Manly coach Kieran Foran has slammed his side for lacking a \u201chard edge\u201d after they blew a golden opportunity to get back into the top eight after losing to Melbourne 42-20 in Perth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Sea Eagles were up 14-0 after 26 minutes after Storm winger Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown was sent to the sin bin for a late hit and looked in total control.<\/p>\n

They were on their way to winning and getting back into the top eight.<\/p>\n

But the wheels completely fell off after Tyran Wishart\u2019s try in the 34th minute and the Storm went on to score 42 unanswered points.<\/p>\n

It was Manly\u2019s fifth-straight loss and they remain in 10th place on the ladder.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou should be able to put the foot on the throat and maintain a level of control and it just looks as though we completely lost it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel very, very sorry for our fans and we had a lot to play for today. There was a lot on the line. There was good reason to turn up and put in a really good performance and after about the half an hour mark that just wasn\u2019t good enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Manly was sitting in third spot after 15 rounds but now, \u2018Fozball\u2019 seems like a distant memory.<\/p>\n

The Sea Eagles completed almost 85 per cent of their sets through 30 minutes, but threw the game away, completing just 11 of their next 20 sets which prompted Foran to challenge his side\u2019s character.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not the sort of footy team we want to be and we got to work out what we stand for because that\u2019s just way off,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

Manly captain Jake Trbojevic cut a dejected figure after the full-time siren sounded, knowing his side\u2019s finals destiny is no longer in their hands. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s the most disappointing thing, we turned up here with everything to play for off a bye and to put in a performance like that, it\u2019s pretty hard to take,\u201d Trbojevic said. <\/p>\n

Manly has conceded 128 points in their past three games and has not won away from Brookvale Oval since Round 11.<\/p>\n

The win has got the Storm up to 22 points and means they can still mathematically make the finals if they win all their remaining games and other results fall their way.<\/p>\n

Coach Craig Bellamy wasn\u2019t really thinking about sneaking into the eight, however.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re certainly not giving up but whether we can make it (the finals), at the end of the day we just take it out of the picture and we just need to prepare well and play well and then see what happens from there,\u201d Bellamy said.<\/p>\n

Bellamy said this week that he would coach on again in 2027 after it was speculated that he might retire after this season to focus on his health after he revealed in April that he was diagnosed with an unspecified neurodegenerative disorder.<\/p>\n

Storm captain Cameron Munster paid Bellamy the ultimate tribute after the come-from-behind win.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is the club,\u201d Munster said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s determined to keep going and I know he\u2019s gone through a tough time.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s probably a bit (of rare) territory for us, not making finals, but there\u2019s definitely one thing that he hasn\u2019t shied away from, and that\u2019s his care. You can see that when he\u2019s in the gym early in the morning <\/p>\n
