The Washington Commanders<\/a> have a few players on the roster who, if they\u2019re out for an extended period of time, might sink an already perilous season looming on the horizon.<\/p>\n NFL<\/a> All-Pro offensive left tackle Laremy Tunsil<\/a> is 1 of them.<\/p>\n \u201cCommanders LT Laremy Tunsil will have his injury (appeared to be shoulder\/neck) evaluated and tested, source says,\u201d NFL Network\u2019s Mike Garofolo wrote<\/a> on his official X account on Saturday. \u201cNot sensing any huge panic but the testing will tell the story and I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if he missed some time.\u201d<\/p>\n Update (8:30 p.m. ET): Tunsil will miss a \u201csignificant\u201d portion of the regular season with torn triceps tendon.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n Tunsil hurt himself during 1-on-1 pass-rush drills against edge rusher Odafe Oweh<\/a> and had to leave practice on Saturday.<\/p>\n \u201cAs others have reported, Commanders LT Laremy Tunsil did leave the field after a one-on-one rep during the early portion of practice,\u201d The Athletic\u2019s Nicki Jhabvala wrote<\/a> on her official X account on Saturday. \u201cHe was examined in the medical tent, then led back up to the team\u2019s facility for further evaluation.\u201d<\/p>\n The Commanders traded with the Houston Texans<\/a> to obtain Tunsil before the 2025 season, and he turned in arguably the best season of his career \u2014 despite the Commanders going 5-12 \u2014 and played his way into a 2-year, $60.2 million contract extension on March 9.<\/p>\n Tunsil\u2019s current contract, which runs through 2028, will bring his career earnings total to a staggering $223.8 million.<\/p>\n Laremy Tunsil Called Out for Glaring Flaw in Game<\/p>\n For all of his dominance, Tunsil has a glaring flaw in his game \u2014 he gets called for too many penalties.<\/p>\n Pro Football Focus pointed out<\/a> Tunsil is 1 of the NFL\u2019s 10 most penalized players since 2021.<\/p>\n Tunsil came in at No. 3 on the list behind Chiefs<\/a> offensive tackle\u00a0Jawaan Taylor<\/a>\u00a0at No. 1 and\u00a0Buffalo Bills<\/a>\u00a0offensive tackle\u00a0Dion Dawkins<\/a>\u00a0at No. 2.<\/p>\n \u201cTunsil has turned into one of the premier tackles in the sport, accruing five Pro Bowl nominations along the way,\u201d PFF\u2019s Bradley Locker wrote. \u201cYet even he hasn\u2019t been immune to flags, compiling 49 since 2021. Tunsil\u2019s biggest flaw has been false starts, as his 32 in the last five years lead the\u00a0NFL<\/a>. On the flip side, he\u2019s been responsible for only 12 holds. Tunsil only setting his offenses back five yards \u2014 and not erasing a play after it\u2019s already occurred \u2014 are easier to stomach than holds, contributing to his 90.5 overall PFF grade since 2021.
