{"id":849064,"date":"2026-08-09T11:40:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-09T11:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/849064\/"},"modified":"2026-08-09T11:40:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-09T11:40:08","slug":"siya-kolisi-injury-update-as-springboks-face-nervous-wait-ahead-of-rugbys-greatest-rivalry-series-with-all-blacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/849064\/","title":{"rendered":"Siya Kolisi injury update as Springboks face nervous wait ahead of Rugby&#8217;s Greatest Rivalry series with All Blacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/south-africa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Springboks<\/a> captain Siya Kolisi has opened up on the injury he suffered during the international clash with Argentina in Buenos Aires on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The flanker left the field after 24 minutes due to a hamstring problem and had to watch the remainder of the Test from the sideline, a match South Africa edged 17-10.<\/p>\n<p>Tries from Edwill van der Merwe and Cameron Hanekom were added to by points from Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Handre Pollard in a close-fought encounter.<\/p>\n<p>Kolisi injury<\/p>\n<p>But there is concern for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/south-africa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Springboks<\/a>, especially with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/tournament\/rugbys-greatest-rivalry\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Greatest Rivalry<\/a> Tests against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/new-zealand\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">All Blacks<\/a> on the horizon, as flanker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/tag\/siya-kolisi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kolisi<\/a> was a casualty in the triumph.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after the away success, Kolisi was philosophical about the injury and revealed that his first port of call would be a scan to ascertain the severity of the issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hurt my hamstring again, unfortunately. So, I\u2019ll go for a scan and see how far it is,\u201d he told ESPN Scrum at full-time on the sideline of the Estadio Jos\u00e9 Amalfitani.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is really tough, but I can\u2019t be sad about it,\u201d the skipper added. \u201cThere is nothing I can do now, other than to go and have a scan and then see how long I\u2019m out for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Want more from Planet Rugby? Home or away, they\u2019re one of the toughest teams we play all year.
