Lee Westwood has rolled back the years at LIV Golf New York this week.<\/p>\n

Westwood has a genuine chance to win in New York heading into the final round on Sunday, as he trails the leader Joaquin Niemann by four strokes.<\/p>\n

The 53-year-old is still looking for his first LIV Golf victory and he will be desperate to get over the line at Trump Bedminster on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Lee Westwood<\/a> was one of the first big names to make the move to LIV Golf<\/a> back in 2022.<\/p>\n

The Englishman has won 44 times throughout his career, but his move to LIV has undoubtedly tainted his legacy.<\/p>\n

Westwood has often blindly criticized LIV Golf\u2019s detractors<\/a>, without actually engaging in any kind of sophisticated debate.<\/p>\n

And he carried on that theme when talking about those who don\u2019t understand what he has actually achieved throughout his career.<\/p>\n

Lee Westwood hits back at golf fans who don\u2019t respect his achievements<\/p>\n

Lee Westwood clearly isn\u2019t happy with how his career in the game is perceived by some golf fans.<\/p>\n

The Englishman was asked by one journalist after his third round at LIV Golf New York whether he is happy with what he has achieved during his career so far.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think anybody within golf that is a golf enthusiast knows I was World No. 1,\u201c Westwood replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s just kind of that new crowd. There\u2019s a few brain-dead ones that you wouldn\u2019t even bother talking about, to be perfectly honest.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I\u2019m pretty happy with the way the last 34 years have gone or whatever it is. Just a young lad from Worksop; golf wasn\u2019t really in my family. Nobody in my family played. Took it up one summer holidays and then sometime in 2010, 2011 was the best player in the world. <\/p>\n

\u201cI figure that\u2019s a fairly decent achievement.\u201c<\/p>\n

Westwood has achieved a lot, but it\u2019s worth remembering that he failed to win a major championship during his career.<\/p>\n

And that will undoubtedly still weigh heavily on him.<\/p>\n

Lee Westwood\u2019s expectations now that he\u2019s 53<\/p>\n

Westwood was asked what he expects from his game now that he is in his 50s.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stopped doing expectations, really,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith anything to do with golf and what I do, I just expect to \u2014 I\u2019m very competitive, and I always just expect to give my best and try 100 percent. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the only expectation I put on myself. If it\u2019s good enough, it\u2019s good enough. I\u2019ve learned to accept when it\u2019s not good enough anymore, and a lot of that is down to do with I\u2019m just getting a bit older. <\/p>\n

\u201cQuite nice to go out there with no real goals or expectations, just play. That\u2019s what getting in the zone is, right? Just playing.\u201c<\/p>\n

If Lee Westwood takes that attitude into the final round of LIV Golf New York, he may well have a chance of winning his first title since joining the league.<\/p>\n

However, he will have to play some seriously good golf if he is to have any chance whatsoever of overtaking Joaquin Niemann.<\/p>\n
