Sophia of girl group Katseye is taking a temporary break from the group\u2019s promotional activities to focus on her mental health and well-being.<\/p>\n
In a statement posted on fan platform Weverse on Friday, the group\u2019s agency said Sophia would be \u201ctemporarily unable to participate in upcoming professional activities,\u201d adding that her \u201cmental health and wellness are prioritized.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSophia has been receiving the utmost support, and following thorough consultations with medical professionals, it has been advised that she take dedicated time for extended rest and ongoing care to ensure a full recovery,\u201d the agency said.<\/p>\n
The agency said it will reassess Sophia\u2019s condition next month and provide fans with updates.<\/p>\n
The announcement comes a week before Katseye is scheduled to release its new EP, \u201cWild.\u201d It also follows member Manon\u2019s announcement of a temporary hiatus to focus on her health and well-being in February.<\/p>\n
Katseye was formed through HYBE\u2019s global audition project \u201cThe Debut: Dream Academy\u201d in 2023 and made its U.S. debut in June 2024. The group gained attention from global music fans after entering the Billboard Hot 100 with \u201cGnarly\u201d and \u201cGabriela\u201d last year.<\/p>\n
The group consists of six members: Lara, Sophia, Daniela, Manon, Yoonchae and Megan.<\/p>\n
