It was a result that saw Carlton take a giant leap towards a top-10 finish and continued their extraordinary turnaround under Fraser, which has seen them win 10 of their last 12 games after starting the year disastrously with a 1-8 record under former coach Michael Voss.<\/p>\n
Bluntly asked post-match when he would nominate for the full-time Carlton job, Fraser said: \u201cYou\u2019re going to get another straight bat!<\/p>\n
\u201cMy preference tonight is not to make it about me, if possible. And the reason I say that is that it\u2019s a terrific night for our footy club. Our AFLW girls got a win tonight and you see the work that they put in consistently. And on field it was another step forward for our playing group,\u201d Fraser said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do appreciate the questions around me, but right now I feel a lot of gratitude for the people that surround me.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think a lot of the credit around tonight\u2019s performance should be shared.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fraser, the former Collingwood and Gold Coast ruckman, said he and the players felt the love they were getting from the fans, although he admitted he wasn\u2019t comfortable with it.<\/p>\n
\u201cPurely because I feel like I\u2019m a product of a lot of people around me,\u201d Fraser said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I appreciate it. I appreciate they feel connected to us as a club at the moment and I think that\u2019s a really important thing for us moving forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to play a style of football that energises our fans \u2026 and I think each week it\u2019s just felt like that energy is built a little bit more.\u201d<\/p>\n
But Fraser insisted he hasn\u2019t taken the time to sit back and reflect on the incredible job he has done to resurrect Carlton\u2019s season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI move on pretty quick where I need to. I think we\u2019ve still got a job in front of us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
And Fraser has attempted to avoid looking too far into the future as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve just tried to stay as narrow as I can and it\u2019s been challenging with a lot of the questioning and different things,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I\u2019d still feel such a responsibility to this role as interim coach and I just think that that\u2019s what I needed to, and have, focused all of my energy on.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause I would be doing a disservice, not only to our players, but our staff and everyone, if I started to stray away from that.<\/p>\n
\u201cClearly, I\u2019ve had to do think through some things, but that hasn\u2019t occupied a lot of my thinking and all the hypotheticals haven\u2019t either.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost of my energy has been focused on this playing group and footy club.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carlton need to win one of their last two games against either the Western Bulldogs or Fremantle to finish in the top 10 and Fraser said the enormity of the situation wasn\u2019t lost on his players.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey don\u2019t live under rocks. I\u2019m sure they\u2019ve got a high awareness of where this all sits in the scheme of things,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s important we sit in the wins for a little bit, but not ride this wave.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe thing that\u2019s taking us forward is we are just attaching ourselves to the work that we need to do.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe in the past the club\u2019s ridden that wave of outcomes and I\u2019m a bit more around what we can build and make sustainable.\u201d<\/p>\n
