{"id":84981,"date":"2025-08-21T12:55:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T12:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/84981\/"},"modified":"2025-08-21T12:55:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T12:55:08","slug":"chinese-taipei-boxer-lin-yu-ting-agrees-to-gender-test-for-world-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/84981\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese Taipei boxer Lin Yu-ting agrees to gender test for world championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Chinese Taipei Olympic champion boxer Lin Yu-ting will undergo compulsory gender testing ahead of the world championships in Liverpool next month, her coach told AFP on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Lin and Algerian boxer Imane Khelif were embroiled in a gender row at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they both won gold medals in different weight classes.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">World Boxing said on Wednesday that women wanting to compete at the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool would have to undergo \u201cmandatory sex testing\u201d under its new policy, which took effect the same day.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cThey announced that everyone must submit, so we will submit as well,\u201d Lin\u2019s coach Tseng Tzu-chiang said.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cIf you want to compete, you have to follow the rules of the competition.
