DICK Johnson<\/a> Racing executive chairman Ryan Story has thrown his support behind Supercars\u2019 move to appeal Kai Allen\u2019s non-penalty<\/a> from the Perth Super440 decider.<\/p>\n

Allen controversially escaped punishment for a minimum tyre breach, leading to the championship itself lodging an appeal.<\/p>\n

Allen\u2019s Grove Racing team was dismayed by Supercars taking matters into its own hands<\/a>, but Story thinks otherwise.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn every circumstance where this minimum tyre pressure rule has been in place, if the breach is proven, that\u2019s it: you\u2019re out. Supercars proved the breach in the stewards hearing,\u201d Story explained on the newest episode of PG and The Doc<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe stewards have upheld that there was a breach but elected not to give a penalty.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to do anything that calls into question the actions of the stewards or their integrity. Motorsport Australia and the independence of MA and their stewards is integral to our sport. It\u2019s vital to our sport. But in this instance I think that Supercars is correct in appealing and taking it to the Supercars National Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat it questions \u2013 and Supercars put this out in their statement \u2013 is to protect and preserve the integrity of the rules.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause if this is allowed to stand, let me tell you, we are going to look at the manufacturer tolerance of every sensor in the car.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot just at what\u2019s in black and white in terms of all the plus-and-minuses in the VSD and the Ops Manual, they\u2019re there for a reason. It\u2019s almost to protect people from themselves \u2013 with a bodywork check, maybe you can\u2019t get it right on the number, but you can get it within +\/- 1 or 2mm.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the appeal is dismissed, what it means is that every team and Supercars themselves will spend an enormous amount of time and energy understanding where they can take the mickey.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I don\u2019t think that\u2019s a good outcome for the sport. It\u2019s a very bad outcome for the sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to be absolutely clear: I don\u2019t care what team it is, I don\u2019t care what driver it is. I don\u2019t care.
