{"id":851012,"date":"2026-08-11T04:14:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T04:14:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/851012\/"},"modified":"2026-08-11T04:14:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T04:14:17","slug":"jones-view-on-heimgartners-finals-chances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/851012\/","title":{"rendered":"Jones\u2019 view on Heimgartner\u2019s finals chances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ANDR\u00c9 Heimgartner might have put a line through his name in the Supercars finals race after Townsville, but his team boss isn\u2019t ready to wave the white flag.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The #8 Supra driver last month declared a race-ending engine failure <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/heimgartners-surprising-stance-on-crushing-finals-blow\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">had \u201ckilled my finals hopes\u201d<\/a>, at that stage dropping him 175 points below the provisional cut line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Uninspiring Perth Super440 results for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1181-Jack-Le Brocq\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jack Le Brocq<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1192-James-Golding\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">James Golding<\/a> however <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/finals-watch-how-the-bigger-picture-looks-after-perth\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">have kept the chasing pack interested<\/a>, with Heimgartner beating both in all three races at Wanneroo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s suddenly closed his deficit to 128 points with up to 915 still in play during the \u2018regular season\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brad Jones told V8 Sleuth he hasn\u2019t lost hope of getting his lead car into finals, after Heimgartner missed last year\u2019s playoffs by the narrowest of margins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt will be all about the enduros, how we go there,\u201d said Jones.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/2026-repco-bathurst-1000-official-program?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2026-bathurst-program-2.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut he\u2019s made up a reasonable amount of points on Jack. We\u2019ll just wait and see.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI never give up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BJR continues to play the waiting game on announcing its enduro co-drivers, but it\u2019s very much anticipated Heimgartner will be joined by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1232-Bryce-Fullwood\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bryce Fullwood<\/a> for The Bend 500 and Bathurst 1000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jones was also keen to make mention of the productive alliance his outfit is enjoying with Toyota homologation team Walkinshaw TWG Racing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe relationship we have with Walkinshaw is really, really good,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey\u2019re great to work with and happy to share anything, as we are with them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI couldn\u2019t speak more highly of the interaction between the teams, it\u2019s really good \u2013 in fact, better than I have experienced anywhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Queensland Raceway will host the final Sprint Cup round of the season on August 21-23.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2026_Supercars_Rd8_PaceImages_39174-Enhanced-NR-Social-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-261627\"  \/>Brad and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1184-Macauley-Jones\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Macauley Jones<\/a>.
