Trainer Brian McIntyre appeared on the Last Stand podcast to talk about his experience training Terence Crawford and their biggest fights, thoughts on the current crop of boxers, and a lot more. Check out some of what he had to say with the full video segment below.<\/p>\n
BoMac on the most satisfying win he had with Crawford<\/p>\n
\u201cSpence. Because, man, of course boxing is a competitive sport and everybody get the fuel behind them and rooting their guy on\u2026Them guys over there, they got personally disrespectful. And throwing shots at me, throwing shots at our team, throwing shots at Bud, but the whole time we stayed professional about it. And all the way up until the end, even after he got beat, those guys didn\u2019t acknowledge nothing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey acknowledged Bud because he did what he had to do, but after that I still felt that animosity. And that\u2019s why it was so personal with me. Derrick James was calling me cheeseburger, they need to make a new weight class for me, but when it was time for that press conference they walked out, put their tails between their ass.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was going to talk a little sh-t but if you look real closely, when it was my time to say something Bud leaned over and said \u2018keep it professional.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
On if he considers himself to be the best trainer<\/p>\n
\u201cNo. Hell no. There\u2019s so many trainers out there that I admire, other trainers that don\u2019t get the recognition. Ronnie Shields, he don\u2019t get a lot. Buddy McGirt\u2026Juan Guzman. Those guys are good, man.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Keyshawn Davis turning down Devin Haney fight<\/p>\n
\u201cKind of boggling to me but I\u2019m thinking maybe it\u2019s something they got planned over there, something bigger and better might come along. Keyshawn, he don\u2019t shy away from fights, that\u2019s one thing he don\u2019t do. And I know firsthand he wants to fight that dude but for him to pull out, I think maybe him, J. Prince, some guys over there on his team, they planned something. So I\u2019m just sitting back and waiting for an announcement \u2018Keyshawn going to fight this guy\u2019 or \u2018Keyshawn going to fight that guy.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cKeyshawn a dog, a straight dog. What he\u2019s doing now, it\u2019s got to be all in his plans.\u201d<\/p>\n
On whether he was disappointed Keyshawn left his camp<\/p>\n
\u201cNo. By far, I\u2019m not. Because, again, them other guys need a chance too\u2026I wasn\u2019t upset, man. I did what I had to do. I made him a champion. So what he want to do after that, that\u2019s just on him.\u201d<\/p>\n
On who\u2019s the current face of boxing<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can\u2019t really put that responsibility on one person, man, because there\u2019s some great fighters out there. You got Haney, you got Shakur, you got Ryan, you got all those guys out there that\u2019s keeping boxing where it\u2019s at.\u201d<\/p>\n
On which fighters he likes to watch<\/p>\n
\u201cI like to watch Shakur fight and I like to watch Tiger Johnson fight\u2026Inoue and Bam Rodriguez.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTeofimo is going to smash that dude. I don\u2019t even know why they made that fight, man. They giving Teofimo another title, man.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn<\/p>\n
\u201cConor Benn going to probably stop him. Ryan ain\u2019t been the same since that first fight with Haney and he got popped. He just never got back to that type of winning. I done seen Benn firsthand. Man, that dude going to destroy him. You heard it first from BoMac.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know. Everybody both say they\u2019re done, they\u2019re washed up, but that\u2019s a hard fight to call.
