the Geelong concussion contract saga<\/a>, sending the Cats a \u2018please explain\u2019 for a secret deal struck two years ago with premiership defender Jake Kolodjashnij, who waived some of his legal rights for any further on-field head knocks.<\/p>\nIt\u2019s led to speculation over the future of AFL Commission chairman Drummond, who was president of Geelong in 2024 when the contentious \u2018waiver\u2019 was signed and, therefore, removed himself from Commission deliberations on the case.<\/p>\n
Reporter Tom Morris told SEN Breakfast on Monday said if Drummond stepped down from his role, there was a sense among the AFL industry that \u201cthere might be an SOS\u201d to McGuire be the Commission chairman.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Footy Classified on Tuesday night, McGuire said he believed Drummond would not only survive, but \u201cbe exonerated from any of the issues involved\u201d.<\/p>\n
Asked later in the Channel 9 program by James Hird if \u201csomeone in the AFL ecosystem\u201d had sounded out McGuire about a Commission role, the former Collingwood president said: \u201cDo you want me to answer it truthfully? Yes I have \u2026 People always ring up and text.\u201d<\/p>\n
Then asked if he\u2019d consider the opportunity, McGuire said: \u201cNo, not the chairman! I said tonight Craig Drummond will be the chair.\u201d<\/p>\n
But pressed on whether he\u2019d consider a role as an AFL Commissioner, McGuire said: \u201cI said this last time. We\u2019ve had this for the last two years when Richard Goyder was leaving.<\/p>\n
