{"id":852239,"date":"2026-08-12T05:08:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-12T05:08:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/852239\/"},"modified":"2026-08-12T05:08:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-12T05:08:11","slug":"supercars-triple-eight-finds-engine-issue-on-will-brown-red-bull-ampol-ford-mustang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/852239\/","title":{"rendered":"Supercars: Triple Eight finds engine issue on Will Brown Red Bull Ampol Ford Mustang"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TRIPLE Eight Race Engineering has identified an engine issue that held <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1292-Will-Brown\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will Brown<\/a> back through the opening eight rounds of the season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s been 12 months since the 2024 champion last won a Supercars race, and the team had already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/triple-eight-executing-chassis-change-for-brown\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">committed to moving him into its spare chassis<\/a> ahead of the upcoming Ipswich Super440.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAfter Perth we promised Will, his crew and all stakeholders associated with Car #888, which includes our beloved fans, that we would leave no stone unturned and find reasons why Car #888 has not been fighting for race wins recently,\u201d team principal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1-Jamie-Whincup\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jamie Whincup<\/a> said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAt 7pm last night we found a significant issue on Car #888.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSince the start of this season, Car #888 has been running with an undersized engine airflow restrictor. This part manages the airflow into the engine and has a significant negative impact on engine performance, and therefore lap time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/1-18-scale-2024-adelaide-500-87-chevrolet-camaro-will-brown-model-1?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/B18C24GRenderwithpackaging.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is not a part we, Triple Eight or Red Bull Ampol Racing, manufacture. This is a supplied part from Supercars expected to be the same for all 11 Ford Mustangs, distributed at the start of the season and expected to be run for the whole season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe as a team are taking responsibility and want to deeply apologise to everyone involved for allowing this to happen.
