A\ufeff new phone is hitting the market which promises to allow parents to remotely block banned social media platforms, making it safer and legal for kids under 16.<\/p>\n

The federal government’s landmark social media ban has kicked in and the average smartphone is too much of a temptation for many teenagers.<\/p>\n

\ufeffHuman Mobile Devices (HMD) is best known as the makers of Nokia phones.<\/p>\n

Today, the company launched HMD Fuse, protected by HarmBlock, the world’s first smartphone for children.<\/p>\n

It uses artificial intelligence (AI) to block out social media and any harmful content.<\/p>\n

The phone also claims to be “nudity incompatible”.<\/p>\n

It isn’t a “dumb phone” as parents are able to \ufeffmanage apps remotely and the phone user can only call and receive calls from pre-saved contacts.<\/p>\n

“It looks as good as any iPhone or Samsung,” said tech expert Trevor Long.<\/p>\n

“This is a great smartphone, great camera, great screen, the difference is the apps installed aren’t accessible to the child.”<\/p>\n

The HMD Fuse isn’t cheap \u2013 it retails for $799, plus a yearly subscription fee after the first year of $28 per month.<\/p>\n
