{"id":853263,"date":"2026-08-13T02:24:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T02:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/853263\/"},"modified":"2026-08-13T02:24:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T02:24:15","slug":"dick-johnson-racing-supercars-teen-rylan-gray-driving-ford-capri-at-muscle-car-masters-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/853263\/","title":{"rendered":"Dick Johnson Racing Supercars teen Rylan Gray driving Ford Capri at Muscle Car Masters 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-250-Dick-Johnson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DICK Johnson<\/a> Racing Supercars rookie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-2773-Rylan-Gray\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rylan Gray<\/a> is raring to steer an old-school Ford at the reborn Apex Steel Muscle Car Masters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 19-year-old will drive his father Jeremy\u2019s Capri in the Touring Car Masters class at the August 29-30 Sydney Motorsport Park event.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gray is at SMP today testing the car, which he revealed has endured a wild journey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was actually owned by the Miedecke family before us. They ran it in hillclimbs and it was actually upside down in a creek at one point and it had to get re-shelled,\u201d he said in a video posted to social media.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/038-Gray-EV08-24737-MH7_3876-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-261796\"  \/>Rylan Gray. Pic: Supplied\/Mark Horsburgh<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSo it\u2019s sort of the same car \u2013 in some ways it is.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ve had it for probably two or three years now, Dad\u2019s done some races in TCM on the Supercars calendar, so I thought I\u2019d jump in and have a go at it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gray Jr does have prior experience in the car, having made a cameo appearance in Touring Car Masters on the 2024 Sydney SuperNight support card.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s pretty fun actually.
