The South Sydney Rabbitohs<\/a> have granted recruit Jonah Glover<\/a> permission to look elsewhere on the market after limited opportunities to progress into an NRL<\/a> starter.<\/p>\n

Fresh reports from the Sydney Morning Herald reveal Glover’s management has been told he is far behind the pecking order for starting halves at the club, with Jayden Sullivan<\/a>, Ashton Ward<\/a> and Cody Walker<\/a> all in front of him currently.<\/p>\n

Interestingly enough, on Thursday the Rabbitohs granted permission for him to negotiate elsewhere, despite Walker being unsigned for next year.<\/p>\n

Glover received a heartbreaking setback, and was in line to make his NRL<\/a> debut in Round 1 this year but suffered a broken jaw in the preseason against his former club, the St George Illawarra Dragons<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old half had his path blocked to the NRL<\/a> while at the Red V, and was also placed down the pecking order despite tearing it up in NSW Cup<\/a> for the Dragons.<\/p>\n

Glover returned to the Rabbitohs NSW Cup<\/a> side from his jaw injury in mid-April and has been one of the club’s best, but still hasn’t managed to make it into the 19 for the Rabbitohs NRL<\/a> side this season.<\/p>\n

He has 61 games of NSW Cup<\/a> experience, and is widely considered ready to step up to NRL<\/a> level.<\/p>\n

Peter Mamouzelos<\/a> and Isaiah Tass<\/a> are other South Sydney players who are free to speak with rival clubs after having limited time in the NRL<\/a> under Wayne Bennett<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It is likely Glover will find a new home, and has impressed progressing through the ranks.<\/p>\n

It’s including a Jersey Flegg title win with the Bulldogs in 2023, playing 21 reserve grade games for the Dragons in 2024, then recording 26 games the following year while earning a position in NSW Cup<\/a> Team of the Year after taking the Red V to a Grand Final.<\/p>\n

Glover displays a composed kicking game and has shown his ability to steer a side around the park, which will help his chances at securing a new contract.<\/p>\n

He has been named at halfback for the Rabbitohs’ clash against the Bulldogs in NSW Cup<\/a> on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n
