Robbo\u2019s \u2018simple\u2019 message to Walker in contract drama<\/a><\/p>\nHull FC CEO Richie Myler described the news as \u201ca tremendous signing for the Super League\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an enormous moment for Hull FC. Daly Cherry-Evans is one of the great players of the modern era and there are very few players anywhere in world rugby league with his record, experience, leadership and standing within the game,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhen a player of Daly\u2019s stature decides that he wants to come to Super League and, specifically, wants to play for Hull FC, I think it says a great deal about where this club is heading.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is bigger than simply signing an outstanding halfback. We are bringing one of the most respected leaders in the sport of rugby league into our organisation and somebody who has spent his entire career operating at the very highest level.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis influence on our playing group, our younger players and the standards we are trying to create throughout Hull FC will be enormous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Myler said the signing of Cherry-Evans was a \u201cvery significant part\u201d of the journey to get the club back to the top after lean recent seasons.<\/p>\n
The club last played finals football in the Super League in 2020 and won its last title in 1983.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur supporters have been magnificent in the way they have backed the club and I think this announcement shows them the scale of our ambition,\u201d Myler said. <\/p>\n
Peter Sterling famously had a stint for Hull FC in the 1980s and got them to a Challenge Cup Final in 1985, which they lost 28-24 to Brett Kenny\u2019s Wigan.<\/p>\n
Cherry-Evans will head to England with 21 Test caps for Australia and 26 appearances for Queensland in State of Origin.<\/p>\n

Roosters coach Trent Robinson paid tribute to Cherry-Evans after he scored two tries in the win over Penrith, describing him as \u201cone of the outstanding players of his generation\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has represented his clubs, state and country with distinction, but beyond those achievements, it\u2019s the consistency of his preparation, his competitiveness and the way he has led throughout his career that really stand out,\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe knew the quality of player and person we were bringing to the Roosters, but the impact Daly has had on our group this year has been significant. <\/p>\n
