{"id":854928,"date":"2026-08-14T11:58:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T11:58:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/854928\/"},"modified":"2026-08-14T11:58:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T11:58:17","slug":"allan-moffat-bathurst-1000-ford-falcon-xc-coming-to-muscle-car-masters-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/854928\/","title":{"rendered":"Allan Moffat Bathurst 1000 Ford Falcon XC coming to Muscle Car Masters 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AUSSIE racing icon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-290-Allan-Moffat\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Allan Moffat<\/a> will be honoured at this year\u2019s Apex Steel Muscle Car Masters at Sydney Motorsport Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The legendary, 1977 Bathurst 1000-winning Moffat Ford Dealers Falcon XC Coupe will be on display at the event, courtesy of the National Motor Racing Museum in Bathurst.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Moffat and Jacky Ickx-driven Ford that famously led the sister #2 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-312-Colin-Bond\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Colin Bond<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1045-Alan-Hamilton\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alan Hamilton<\/a> car in the famous form-finish, is a permanent resident of the NMRM.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/odd-jobs-moffats-extra-curricular-racing-exploits\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Last year it left the NMRM and headed to Melbourne to be part of Ford\u2019s centenary celebrations.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/vale-allan-moffat\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Moffat passed away last November just 12 days past his 86th birthday after a long battle with dementia.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The four-time Bathurst Great Race winner had a long connection to the Muscle Car Masters event as a frequent guest and held a long connection to event promoter, the Australian Racing Drivers Club.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/the-boss-the-inside-story-of-allan-moffat-and-his-trans-am-mustang-book?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sleuth-store1.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Director on the ARDC Board for over a decade (between 1998 and 2013), he was named an ARDC Life Member in 2011 and Turn 1 at Sydney Motorsport Park was renamed Moffat Corner in his honour in 2017.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 1977 Falcon will sit on static display in the paddock at SMP during the event to pay tribute to Moffat, who passed away last November.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last held under the Muscle Car Masters title in 2019, the event promises a return to its former glory with a stacked list of heritage and V8-flavoured racing categories.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-subscription?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sleuth-mag-subscription.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That line-up includes Touring Car Masters, the National Sports Sedan Series, Heritage Touring Cars (Group C &amp;
