Responding to news that the Cats are the new favourites, Beveridge said he\u2019s \u201cnot sure\u201d if it\u2019s true and ensured the Dogs would look to leave no unturned in the chase for the free agent.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s rumblings. I mean, you\u2019re always working out what you can do,\u201d Beveridge said on Fox Footy\u2019s AFL 360 on Monday night.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know, have you spent everything that you can? Not in regards to the dollar, but is there any more you can do? <\/p>\n
\u201cIs there another angle? (Like) With any player like Zak who you who you\u2019re really determined to bring in.<\/p>\n
\u201cSometimes when you hear those rumours, they\u2019re valid. Other times, they\u2019re probably misdirected.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re not sure of the impact of that one, but it could be true and we\u2019ve got to continue to do what we can to see if we can bring Zak in if he makes that decision (to leave Port).\u201d<\/p>\n

It comes after it was revealed last week that the Magpies had tabled a club record deal to Butters worth as much as $14 million over eight years. Though it\u2019s still triumphed by Richmond’s reported mammoth offer worth a total of $18 million over eight years, which is north of $2 million a season.<\/p>\n
Beveridge has been open about the Bulldogs\u2019 pursuit of Butters and previously spoken on the \u201cromance\u201d of the gun midfielder potentially joining the club he grew up supporting.<\/p>\n
While Beveridge hasn\u2019t confirmed talk that the Dogs have met with Butters, Power coach Josh Carr has hit back at rival clubs openly discussing their interest in the dual All-Australian. <\/p>\n
Though the Dogs coach has said he didn\u2019t want the AFL to go down the NRL route and have players declare they\u2019re moving to another club during the season.<\/p>\n

The Dogs are also targeting Adelaide defender Jordon Butts as the ninth-placed club looks to beef up its list in an \u201cimportant off-season.\u201d<\/p>\n
And Beveridge thinks the club\u2019s list transition and strong track record under his lead, with a premiership including two grand final appearances among eight finals campaigns since 2015, has it well placed moving forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been able to hold it together. In the last 10 to 12 years, we\u2019ve played in one (grand final), one won (premiership),\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe feel like we\u2019ve strategically positioned ourselves with Tassie coming in to re-emerge, it\u2019s a really important off-season for us. <\/p>\n
\u201cIf we can bring in three or four players from other clubs who are pretty experienced, just to bolster and fortify our stocks, we\u2019ll be in a really good position.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beveridge also backed the Bulldogs\u2019 young talent after suggestions Richmond had a better crop for Butters to play along side.<\/p>\n
