As LIV Golf heads to The Club at Chatham Hills for LIV Golf Indianapolis, the field returns to Westfield, Indiana for the second consecutive year. Last season, Sebastian Mu\u00f1oz claimed the individual title in dramatic fashion, holding off Jon Rahm in a playoff after opening with a stunning 59, while Torque GC captured the team title, their first of the season.<\/p>\n
The Club at Chatham Hills will host the event for the second time. The par-70, 7,273-yard course will once again ask players to navigate its tree-lined fairways and Pete Dye green complexes over four rounds of stroke play.<\/p>\n
Here are the power rankings for all 13 teams.<\/p>\n
1. Torque GC<\/p>\n
No team enters Indianapolis with more positive recent history than Torque GC. The team claimed its first-ever team title at Chatham Hills last season, and Joaquin Niemann arrives fresh off a dominant individual victory at LIV Golf New York, where he won by three shots. Niemann led the field in Strokes Gained: Approach at New York and ranked inside the top 10 in Strokes Gained: Putting as well.<\/p>\n
Niemann also finished T4 at Chatham Hills last year at 17-under, while Abraham Ancer finished 13th. Ancer followed that up with a quiet week in New York, but the strength of Niemann’s recent form, paired with the team’s course history, makes Torque GC the team to beat this week.<\/p>\n
2. Legion XIII<\/p>\n
Legion XIII brings as much individual talent as any team in the league, even after a relatively quiet week in New York. Jon Rahm’s runner-up finish at Chatham Hills last season, when he closed with a final-round 60, remains one of the most electric performances in LIV Golf history, while Tyrrell Hatton’s continued consistency gives this team a high ceiling.<\/p>\n
Tom McKibbin finished T22 at Chatham Hills last season, while Caleb Surratt finished T17. The team’s results in New York did not match their season-long pedigree, but Rahm’s history at this specific venue and the overall talent across the roster make Legion XIII impossible to overlook this week.<\/p>\n
3. Ripper GC<\/p>\n
Ripper GC enters Indianapolis with\u00a0a bad taste in their mouth from last year’s event at Chatham Hills having finished last. Marc Leishman’s T17 finish in New York was the team’s best individual result of the week, while Cameron Smith continued a solid, if unspectacular, stretch of form.<\/p>\n
Lucas Herbert’s season has included two wins at LIV Golf Virginia and LIV Golf UK as well as a record-tying 62 at The Open Championship, and his current form gives Ripper a completely different outlook than it had last year at this event.<\/p>\n
4. 4Aces GC<\/p>\n
The 4Aces have been the model of consistency all season, and their depth was on display again in New York. Thomas Pieters finished T6 while ranking second in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach, one of his best ball-striking weeks of the season. Anthony Kim continues to\u00a0seek the form that made him the\u00a0year’s biggest surprise early on, while Dustin Johnson and Thomas Detry give the roster four players capable of contributing on any given week.<\/p>\n
Johnson finished third at 20-under last season, one of his best results of the year. Detry was T14 and Pieters finished T8. With four players capable of leading the way and a strong recent week from Pieters, the 4Aces have the look of a complete team.<\/p>\n
5. Crushers GC<\/p>\n
Crushers GC enter Indianapolis as the reigning team champions from New York, where Bryson DeChambeau\u00a0surprisingly didn’t contribute much to the team title while Paul Casey led the team, finishing T6. Anirban Lahiri finished\u00a0inside the top 20\u00a0and\u00a0the team increased its all-time win total to a LIV Golf-leading 11 wins.<\/p>\n
6. Fireballs GC<\/p>\n
Fireballs GC boast one of the most talented rosters in the league, and their course history at Chatham Hills reinforces that. The team finished third at this event last season, with David Puig finishing T4, while Sergio Garcia climbed the individual standings with a T11 finish in New York and got some encouraging results from his new broomstick putter.<\/p>\n
Josele Ballester finished 39th at Chatham Hills last year but has continued to develop as the season has progressed. With Puig’s course history, Garcia’s recent form and the firepower of the roster, Fireballs GC have the pieces to contend this week.<\/p>\n
7. Southern Guards GC<\/p>\n
Southern Guards GC had an encouraging week in New York. Branden Grace finished T9 at 4-under while ranking sixth in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach and leading all players in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee on par 3s. Charl Schwartzel also stood out, leading the field in Strokes Gained: Around the Green.<\/p>\n
8. OKGC<\/p>\n
Harold Varner III delivered the signature performance of LIV Golf New York outside of Niemann, finishing runner-up for his best result of the season. Talor Gooch also had an encouraging week in New York, ranking third in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach.<\/p>\n
Gooch’s course history at Chatham Hills adds further intrigue. He finished T8 at 16-under last season, one of his better results of the year, while Graeme McDowell finished T14. Varner’s runner-up finish and Gooch’s ball-striking make this team a bounce-back candidate after the bottom half of the roster failed to perform at Bedminster.<\/p>\n
9. HyFlyers GC<\/p>\n
Scott Vincent continues to be the engine for HyFlyers GC. He finished T3 at LIV Golf New York, one of the best results of his season, while ranking inside the top five in the field in Strokes Gained: Putting. The HyFlyers finished fourth as a team at Bedminster, which was their best finish of the year and one of the more impressive team performances in recent memory given their previous struggles.<\/p>\n
Brendan Steele finished T17 at Chatham Hills last season, while Cameron Tringale finished T22.<\/p>\n
10. Korean Golf Club<\/p>\n
Korean Golf Club is another team coming off its best result of the season, a tie for fifth. Younghan Song finished T9, his first-ever top-10 finish in LIV Golf, and Byeong Hun An continues to play solid golf for Korean GC. An ranked inside the top 10 in the field in Strokes Gained: Putting at LIV Golf New York, a positive sign for a player who tends to struggle with the flatstick.<\/p>\n
11. RangeGoats GC<\/p>\n
RangeGoats GC finished last in New York but finished eighth at Chatham Hills last year. Bubba Watson’s season has been underwhelming, but a T13 finish at the Danish Golf Championship on the DP World Tour last week gives reason for optimism for the captain.<\/p>\n
12. Majesticks Golf Club<\/p>\n
Lee Westwood produced one of the standout individual performances of LIV Golf New York, finishing T3 while leading the entire field in Strokes Gained: Putting. It was a significant bounce-back after a difficult stretch for Westwood and gives Majesticks Golf Club something to believe in heading into Indianapolis.<\/p>\n
Westwood also finished T17 at Chatham Hills last season, while Ian Poulter finished T29. The putter has often been the swing factor for this team, and Westwood’s performance in New York suggests it could carry over to this week.<\/p>\n
13. Cleeks Golf Club<\/p>\n
A disappointing season from Adrian Meronk, coupled with a lack of results from their captain, Martin Kaymer, has left the Cleeks struggling to contend on LIV Golf this season.
