GLENN Seton<\/a> is preparing to revive the car in which he made his Bathurst 1000 debut as an 18-year-old.<\/p>\n

The two-time ATCC\/Supercars champion burst onto the scene at Mount Panorama in 1983, paired up with his Great Race-winning father Barry.<\/p>\n

The duo shared a Ford Capri, which made it through 134 laps on race day before succumbing to an engine problem.<\/p>\n

After a smattering of further outings in 1984, the Capri has more or less sat dormant for 40-plus years \u2013 but not for much longer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just doing up Dad\u2019s and my \u201983 Bathurst car at the moment,\u201d Seton told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I\u2019m going to do historic racing in that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve just stripped it down to do the mechanicals. I\u2019m going to leave it as is, not painting it, not making it restored or anything, just keeping it as it was.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s sat in the shed since \u201984. It\u2019s done nothing except some parade stuff.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m trying to get it done for Phillip Island (Classic) next year. But if not, and if Muscle Car Masters is quite successful, I\u2019ll get to that (in \u201927) or even the Morgan Park Historics.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seton on Saturday had the chance to proudly watch on as his son Aaron launched his Ipswich Super440 wildcard Camaro livery<\/a> that\u2019s been inspired by his own Falcons of the mid-1990s.<\/p>\n

Adding to the occasion was the presence of GSR5, owned by Con Constantinou, next to MSR05.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt brings me back to memories of probably my successful part of my career, which was the Peter Jackson days,\u201d said Glenn.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo also have one of the original cars here and sit them side-by-side, to be able to look at the difference in technology from 1995 to where we are now in 2026. There\u2019s a massive amount of change \u2013 I\u2019d probably say not for the good \u2013 but the change over the years has been amazing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m extremely proud of what Aaron has done, he has brought it all together himself, he has worked extremely hard. It\u2019s a very, very identifiable paint scheme and it\u2019s a very proud moment. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be a proud moment for my father as well who is not with us anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

GSR5 debuted as an EB Falcon in the 1994 Bathurst 1000, where Seton roared to pole position, only for a mid-race engine misfire to force him and co-driver Paul Radisich out.<\/p>\n

Seton gave the car its first race win (non-championship) in the opening leg of the 1995 Winfield Triple Challenge at Eastern Creek, and it later that year placed runner-up in the Great Race via Alan Jones and Allan Grice.<\/p>\n
