{"id":858986,"date":"2026-08-17T23:30:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T23:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/858986\/"},"modified":"2026-08-17T23:30:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T23:30:12","slug":"jeanie-buss-siblings-cant-sell-familys-lakers-stake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/858986\/","title":{"rendered":"Jeanie Buss: Siblings can&#8217;t sell family\u2019s Lakers stake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jeanie Buss is opposing the reported <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/17\/sports\/buss-family-selling-lakers-ownership-to-josh-kushner-bob-iger\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sale of her family\u2019s stake in the Lakers to Bob Iger and Joshua Kushner<\/a>, arguing her siblings can\u2019t legally execute a sale without her approval.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter obtained by the California Post addressed to lawyers representing her five other siblings in the Buss family trust (Jim, Johnny, Janie, Joey and Jesse) \u2013 Jeanie Buss\u2019 lawyer, Adam Streisand, stated Jeanie didn\u2019t agree to sell the team and that any vote of the Buss family selling would be \u201cVoid ab initio\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Los Angeles Lakers president Jeanie Buss sits in the stands prior to an NBA basketball game between the Lakers and the Boston Celtics. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPursuant to the JAB Trust and the attached Court Order, the co-trustees are bound to vote the Los Angeles Lakers, Inc. shares to ensure that the minimum 15% ownership requirement is maintained in order to ensure that Jeanie Buss may remain Controlling Owner.
