{"id":860611,"date":"2026-08-19T08:38:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T08:38:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/860611\/"},"modified":"2026-08-19T08:38:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T08:38:19","slug":"motorsport-news-australian-formula-ford-championship-quits-aasa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/860611\/","title":{"rendered":"Motorsport news: Australian Formula Ford Championship quits AASA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE Australian Auto-Sport Alliance has copped yet another hit, with the national Formula Ford Championship becoming the latest category to defect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/category-leaves-aasa-race-series-mid-season\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula RX8 quit<\/a> the AASA Race Series prior to last weekend\u2019s Queensland Raceway round; then on Sunday, the TA2 Muscle Car Series, IRC Racing Series and Legend Cars Australia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/mass-aasa-exodus-as-three-categories-quit-on-the-spot\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">simultaneously announced their exits<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, Formula Ford has followed suit, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/aasa-secures-formula-ford-ta2-for-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">having only been in its first season with AASA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe FFA has formally severed our agreement with AASA, effective immediately,\u201d read a memo from category administrator Phil Marrinon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis decision was made in the best interest of the category and its competitors to ensure that we get the very best coverage available.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-issue-5?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/sleuth-mag-issue-5-2.jpg\"\/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe have secured a position for the 2026 Yokohama Formula Ford Championship at the Winton Hi-Tec Oils Super Series round 25-27 September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMore rounds will be added to our calendar as we continue to discuss options with various promotors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AASA Race Series had previously been known as the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series prior to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/aasa-issues-statement-on-super-series-rebranding\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a late-July split between the sanctioning body and sponsor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Hi-Tec Oils Super Series moniker is expected to be rebooted \u2013 likely in cooperation with Motorsport Australia \u2013 for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/aasa-race-series-omits-winton-from-2026-calendar\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the September 25-27 Winton fixture that AASA had shifted away from<\/a>, with both Formula Ford and Formula RX8 committing to appearing there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TA2, IRC and Legend Cars have yet to comment on how their seasons will pan out from here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"THE Australian Auto-Sport Alliance has copped yet another hit, with the national Formula Ford Championship becoming the latest&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":860612,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[572],"tags":[64,63,806,805,803,804,85],"class_list":["post-860611","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-motosport","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-motor","tag-motor-sports","tag-motosport","tag-motosports","tag-sports"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/860611","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=860611"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/860611\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/860612"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=860611"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=860611"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=860611"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
