Source: TikTok\/Baileys_Bargains<\/p>\n Garbett, from Melbourne\u2019s outer east, said the decision left plenty of people questioning whether he\u2019d lost the plot, including his accountant mother and his uni-minded mates.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople thought it was a bit stupid because I was one term away from becoming a Chartered Accountant, but I\u2019d really just had enough,\u201d he told the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n Before quitting, he had spent Two-and-a-half years in audit after completing an accounting degree, as well as time working in bankruptcy.<\/p>\n But one train ride to work forced a rethink.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to work for myself, so I\u2019m just going to bet on myself for once and have a crack,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n By that point, couch flipping had already become a profitable weekend side hustle after he came across a Canadian creator doing the same thing online.<\/p>\n Bailey recently purchased this couch for $50 off Facebook Marketplace and sold it for $500. Source: TikTok\/Baileys_Bargains<\/p>\n Using his ute, his dad\u2019s shed and a $40 online course, Garbett began sourcing unwanted lounges from Facebook Marketplace in September last year.<\/p>\n What started as a way to make extra money outside footy season quickly turned into a business model he believed could rival his full-time wage.<\/p>\n \u201cBased on my projections, I\u2019d only need to flip around 15 couches a month at the most conservative numbers to make what I was making,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He said his average profit sits at about $400 a couch, though some flips have delivered much bigger returns.<\/p>\n Now that\u2019s what we call a profit.
