{"id":862646,"date":"2026-08-21T01:22:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T01:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/862646\/"},"modified":"2026-08-21T01:22:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T01:22:15","slug":"twg-motorsports-rules-out-sale-of-assets-including-toyota-supercars-walkinshaw-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/862646\/","title":{"rendered":"TWG Motorsports rules out sale of assets including Toyota Supercars Walkinshaw team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE international scrutiny surrounding TWG Global is set to have no impact on the leading Supercars team the group co-owns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was announced in February 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/supercars-team-joins-twg-motorsports-umbrella\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">that Walkinshaw Andretti United was joining the TWG fold<\/a>, with Dan Towriss replacing Michael Andretti as a director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In February this year, the team name officially transitioned from WAU to Walkinshaw TWG Racing. That followed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/mclaren-boss-sells-stake-in-title-winning-supercars-squad\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zak Brown\/United Autosports\u2019 departure<\/a>, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/title-winning-supercars-team-reveals-new-shareholder\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scott O\u2019Donnell later announced as joining<\/a> Towriss and Ryan Walkinshaw in the triumvirate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fast forward to now and the spotlight has been shining on the broader TWG Global group amid United States investigations into its financial conduct.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TWG Global boss Mark Walter this month sold NBA giant Los Angeles Lakers, leading to speculation over whether a similar course of action could occur with his other sporting assets including the Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-issue-5?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/sleuth-mag-issue-5-2.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TWG Motorsports is represented in six categories: as Cadillac in Formula 1, Spire Motorsports in NASCAR, Andretti Global in both IndyCar and Formula E, Wayne Taylor Racing in IMSA, and Walkinshaw TWG Racing in Supercars.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amid questions in the F1 paddock ahead of this weekend\u2019s Dutch Grand Prix, TWG issued the following statement: \u201cTWG is not considering a sale of the Cadillac team or any other part of TWG Motorsport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Walkinshaw TWG won the 2025 Supercars drivers\u2019 championship through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-330-Chaz-Mostert\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chaz Mostert<\/a> and has impressively spearheaded Toyota\u2019s entry into the category this year via a V8-powered Gen3 Supra.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both Mostert and teammate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-2748-Ryan-Wood\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Wood<\/a> have won races this season and are on course for finals berths.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notably, at this weekend\u2019s Ipswich Super440, an upgraded B-spec engine is being debuted in four of the five Supras (all bar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1184-Macauley-Jones\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Macauley Jones<\/a>\u2019) in what is hoped to be a major step forward in reliability ahead of the enduros.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"THE international scrutiny surrounding TWG Global is set to have no impact on the leading Supercars team the&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":862647,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[572],"tags":[64,63,806,805,803,804,85],"class_list":["post-862646","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-motosport","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-motor","tag-motor-sports","tag-motosport","tag-motosports","tag-sports"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/862646","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=862646"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/862646\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/862647"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=862646"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=862646"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=862646"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
