Bryson DeChambeau<\/a> hopes LIV Golf is given “one more shot” and seemed to respond to Rory McIlroy’s comments about the value<\/a> his fellow players brought on the team tour.<\/p>\n

McIlroy questioned what value LIV players would bring if returning to the PGA Tour, a sentiment that Scottie Scheffler disagreed with<\/a> as he insisted there were a few players who “would provide a lot of value to the Tour” should they come back.<\/p>\n

As we’ve seen before with Sir Nick Faldo’s ‘strategy’ criticism<\/a>, DeChambeau hears everything and he responded at The Open with an interview filled with strategy comments.<\/p>\n

DeChambeau this time spoke at LIV Golf Indianapolis<\/a> and along with voicing his hope for the future, added: “I hope people can see that we actually bring value to the game of golf.”<\/p>\n

That’s more than likely in response to McIlroy’s comments ahead of the BMW Championship in the FedEXCup Playoffs, when he asked “Have they brought value to LIV?” when responding to the question of whether returning LIV players would bring value to the PGA Tour.<\/p>\n

Following the cancellation of the Team Championship in Michigan, LIV Golf Indianapolis is now the final event of the season – and is taking place with still a huge amount of uncertainty about the future.<\/p>\n

An investor has been found but CEO Scott O’Neil admits he’s on a deadline<\/a> to get it over the line, with DeChambeau acknowledging it’s a tough road ahead.<\/p>\n

“It’s not easy. We definitely have a lot against us,” DeChambeau said after his opening round of 65 in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

“But I think behind the scenes we’ve got a lot of people that are working hard to make this possible for not only all the players that are out here but all the fans that have come out to these events and the economic impact that we’ve made in all these places, whether it’s South Africa, here in Indy or Australia, numerous places across the world, the UK, all the different places we’ve been in the US.<\/p>\n

“Even Nashville when we played a few years ago was unbelievable.”<\/p>\n

Some LIV players are considering their futures though, with DeChambeau himself a huge part of discussions as his contract will expire after this season and negotiations over a new deal are entwined with LIV’s future.<\/p>\n

The two-time US Open winner has confirmed an appearance at the Nedbank Challenge<\/a> on the DP World Tour, and that’s an avenue plenty of LIV players are looking to explore.<\/p>\n

DeChambeau was in philosophical mood when discussing if he thinks LIV Golf will survive, and sent out a plea for everyone to give the league one more chance.<\/p>\n

“I think we just have a bit of a responsibility to continue to show this,” he added. “If it works, it works; awesome. If it doesn’t, we’ll figure things out.<\/p>\n

“Time will move on, and I would say that time heals things. I hope people can see that we actually bring value to the game of golf.<\/p>\n

“My wish is that people give us one more shot and be open minded.”<\/p>\n
