Round 25 of the NRL<\/a> season kicked into gear on Friday night with two entertaining matches, which left the Match Review Committee with four charges to sort through.<\/p>\n

At GIO Stadium, the Brisbane Broncos<\/a> defeated the Raiders 34-40 in\u00a0Canberra’s final home game of the season.<\/p>\n

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Broncos, with lock Patrick Carrigan<\/a> sent to the sin bin in the 24th minute for a careless high tackle on Canberra Raiders<\/a> forward Corey Horsburgh<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Match Review Committee handed Carrigan a Grade 1 charge, his second offence in the past three years.<\/p>\n

The Broncos forward was given a $1,800 fine with an early guilty plea, which can increase to $2,500 if he contests it and loses at a judiciary hearing.<\/p>\n

Across at Suncorp Stadium, the Dolphins<\/a> put on a much more comfortable display, winning 34-16 over the Parramatta Eels<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The match produced three separate charges.<\/p>\n

First, Will Penisini<\/a> from the Eels was charged with a Grade 1 careless high tackle on Dolphins<\/a> centre, Herbie Farnworth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Penisini caught Farnworth high in an attacking shift from the Dolphins<\/a> at the end of the set in the 12th minute of the game.<\/p>\n

Since it’s his first offence, Penisini is fined $1,000 with an early plea, $1,500 with an unsuccessful contest.<\/p>\n

Two Dolphins<\/a> players headline the four players charged as the side hopes to keep its spot in the top four.<\/p>\n

Jack Bostock<\/a>\u00a0picked up a Grade 1 dangerous throw charge for an incident involving Eels backline talent Apa Twidle<\/a> in the 18th minute.<\/p>\n

It’s also Bostock’s first offence, with the same fine as Penisini.<\/p>\n

Tom Flegler<\/a> was also cited for a Grade 1 dangerous contact charge on Eels forward Jack Williams<\/a> in the 73rd minute of the match.<\/p>\n

This is also Flegler’s first offence, and it carries the same fine as his teammate’s.<\/p>\n
