HONOLULU (Island News) — Hawaii consumers who purchased generic drugs between May 1, 2009 and Dec. 31, 2019 may be eligible for potential compensation.<\/p>\n

The announcement from Attorney General Anne Lopez follows a court-approved settlement with Apotex Corp., a generic drug manufacturer. This settlement addresses certain claims in antitrust and consumer protection lawsuits in the U.S. District Courts for the District of Connecticut and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

The lawsuits allege that some generic drug manufacturers conspired to artificially inflate and manipulate drug prices, reduce competition and unreasonably restrain trade regarding numerous generic prescription drugs.<\/p>\n

A final list of generic drugs involved and a distribution plan have yet to be approved by the court. Registration ensures that Hawaii consumers will be notified of future settlements and the claims filing process.<\/p>\n
