A 15-year-old boy has been charged after an alleged stabbing left another teen fighting for life.<\/p>\n
Paramedics were called to a home on Painters Lane, Terrigal on the NSW Central Coast late Friday night after a badly injured teenager went to the house for help.<\/p>\n
The 15-year-old boy was treated for stab wounds before he was taken to Gosford Hospital, where he is still in a critical condition. <\/p>\n
Detective Chief Inspector John Zdrilic said the investigation is focusing on two groups of teenagers who were in the area at the time.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose two groups met up in the Terrigal area; they appear to have gone to Painters Lane,\u201d Mr Zdrilic said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe 15-year-old who was stabbed was there with two mates, and they met up with another group that could have numbered up to five.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Zdrilic said it was unclear why the boy went to the house in Painters Lane. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe boy approached a home at Painters Lane to seek help, with residents calling triple-0,\u201d Mr Zdrilic said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt appeared to be a single stab wound to the left side, heavy bleeding. (An) ambulance attended fairly quickly and he was conveyed to Gosford.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAuthorities are working to determine why the groups were in the street and if they were known to each other,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
The boy and the homeowner did not know each other prior to the incident. <\/p>\n
Police said they had spoken to a number of teenagers in the area at the time.<\/p>\n
Late on Saturday night, police revealed they had charged a 15-year-old boy with one count of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.<\/p>\n
The teen was refused bail and will front a children\u2019s court on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Central Coast Councillor Jared Wright warned youth crime in area was \u201con the rise\u201d, while urging locals to do their part. <\/p>\n
\u201cIf you are out in the community and see something that isn\u2019t quite right, always report it to police and crime stoppers,\u201d Mr Wright said. <\/p>\n
\u201cOur local police have continually told us that there are countless incidents going unreported.\u201d<\/p>\n
