We will continue to support Ed and his family as we grieve this tragic loss,\u201d Beane said as the Bills prepared to play <a class=\"relative text-plus-650 dark:text-plus-350 underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/games\/bills-at-browns-2026-pre-2?tab=live\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-headlessui-state=\"\" target=\"_blank\">a preseason game<\/a> in Cleveland.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oliver has asked for privacy and prayers while still mourning his son, who was also named Ed. The toddler was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive in a residential pool in Harris County, Texas, on June 28, a person briefed on what happened told The Associated Press. The person spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity because the team and player have not revealed that information.<\/p>\n<p>Without providing many details including names or ages, the Harris County Sheriff\u2019s department posted <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"relative text-plus-650 dark:text-plus-350 underline\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SheriffEd_HCSO\/status\/2071408117691084958?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" data-headlessui-state=\"\">a note<\/a> on its Facebook account that evening regarding the drowning of a toddler in a neighborhood community north of Houston.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the toddler\u2019s family during this incredibly difficult time. The investigation is ongoing,\u201d the post read.<\/p>\n<p>A sheriff\u2019s official told The Associated Press on Saturday that a report was not immediately available.<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old Oliver is entering his eighth season in Buffalo, and was selected by the Bills in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Houston.<\/p>\n<p>Oliver reported for training camp on time last month and appeared with the starters in the Bills&#8217; preseason-opening <a class=\"relative text-plus-650 dark:text-plus-350 underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/games\/panthers-at-bills-2026-pre-1?tab=recap\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-headlessui-state=\"\" target=\"_blank\">29-14 win<\/a> over Carolina last weekend.
