A worker has divided the internet after revealing they stopped giving a coworker lifts without warning after months of chasing unpaid petrol money.<\/p>\n

The pair started at the same distribution centre in June last year, with the coworker relying on two buses to make their 6am starts.<\/p>\n

The poster offered to drive her instead, despite the pick-up adding about 30 minutes to their daily commute.<\/p>\n

They agreed that she would contribute $40 a month towards petrol, but the poster claimed she only made two payments before the contributions stopped.<\/p>\n

After raising the issue in January, the poster waived the outstanding money and told their coworker she could simply resume payments when her finances improved.<\/p>\n

But despite another three conversations over the following months with repeated promises to pay, the poster claimed, \u201cnothing came through\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeanwhile I was leaving the house 30 minutes early, five days a week, and putting somewhere around $95 a month more into gas than I would have on my own,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo Mondays ago, I just drove straight in without messaging her.\u201d<\/p>\n

The coworker arrived almost two hours late and received a second written warning, with a third potentially putting her job at risk.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou could have just told me you were done. I would have figured something out,\u201d the coworker allegedly told the poster.<\/p>\n

But they argued they had already raised the problem four times.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told you four times. Every time you said you’d sort it and then you didn’t,\u201d they responded.<\/p>\n

The decision split commenters, with some arguing the poster should have warned their coworker before abruptly ending the lifts.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn that situation, I don\u2019t give you a warning because I owe you a warning. I give you a warning because I\u2019m a decent human (sometimes) and two wrongs don\u2019t make a right,\u201d one person wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe’s totally in the wrong and owes you, but you should have texted and said she’s on her own, so she knew you were not coming,\u201d another said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou should have told her before you stopped. Just not picking her up was a poor choice, and it would have cost you nothing to send her a message yesterday afternoon saying you’re not going to be driving her anymore,\u201d a third wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a d**k move to just not show up, and I don\u2019t understand why anyone would be so passive-aggressive,\u201d another said.<\/p>\n

One commenter said the poster would have \u201ccome out a little better\u201d had they warned their coworker they would not drive them around anymore.<\/p>\n

Others sided with the poster, arguing they had already given their coworker enough chances.<\/p>\n

\u201cOP has been scammed and LIED to. OP owes the co-worker nothing! Not even kindness\/consideration,\u201d one person wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the whole, I don\u2019t sympathise with leeches. She brought the problem on herself as much as OP did by allowing her to get away with it so long,\u201d a second echoed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
