Swans chairman Andrew Pridham has declared the club is committed to a cultural review and change in the wake of the Melbourne hotel scandal that\u2019s rocked the game.<\/p>\n
Pridham spoke at the Swans\u2019 official AFLW function ahead of the win over the Bombers at the SCG this afternoon.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile we are deeply shocked and disappointed with what transpired, we believe that since it occurred, we have acted with honesty, dignity and urgency,\u201d Pridham said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have not sought to hide. We have sought to protect and care for those impacted, and make clear our intolerance for the actions of those who have done the wrong thing.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow we begin the process of healing and moving forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cMoving forward involves gaining a better understanding of how our cultural pillars failed to prevent such a thing from happening.\u201d<\/p>\n
Five Swans player were stood down for the rest of the season by the club: Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, Nick Blakey, James Jordon and Riley Bice.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis last week has tested us all. Now it is about responding in the face of adversity,\u201d Pridham added.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe aren\u2019t defined by one event. Failure is not fatal. It\u2019s the courage to continue that counts.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe respect that and we know we must rebuild trust. We will do this honestly and with humility.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut these are just words.
