Built around the naturally aspirated 510PS GT3, this exclusive tribute blends motorsport heritage, serious track capability and unmistakable Porsche theatre in one collector-worthy package.

Special-edition 911s can sometimes feel like Stuttgart has discovered a profitable box of stickers, but the 911 GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring has a stronger excuse than most. The Nürburgring turns 100 in 2027, and Porsche is marking the occasion with exactly 100 cars, all reserved for the German market and scheduled for delivery during the anniversary year.

That last detail will disappoint Indian collectors, although exclusivity has rarely harmed a Porsche’s desirability. The connection itself is genuine. Opened on 18 June 1927, the 20.8-kilometre Nordschleife curls through 73 corners and 300 metres of elevation change in Germany’s Eifel mountains. Sir Jackie Stewart famously nicknamed it the “Green Hell”, while manufacturers came to regard it as motor racing’s sternest finishing school.

The 1953 connection

Porsche first competed there with a 550 Spyder in 1953, has won and broken records ever since, and now uses the circuit to compress years of punishment into an intensive development programme. Porsche Deutschland’s boss says there is “a little bit of Nürburgring in every Porsche”.

In the GT3, whose personality has been shaped by lap times, kerbs and heroic levels of commitment, there is rather more than a little. Choosing it for the centenary tribute feels less like marketing opportunism and more like a homecoming.

More from Cars Bikes

You can choose white, recalling the unadorned colour in which customer racing cars were traditionally delivered, or GT silver metallic

You can choose white, recalling the unadorned colour in which customer racing cars were traditionally delivered, or GT silver metallic, inspired by Porsche’s one-make Cup machines. Both are interrupted by green protective film across the front and rear, a reference to factory teams marking cars in different colours during races and an unsubtle wink at the Green Hell name.

Green tow loops come with regulation-style white arrows, historic Nürburgring crests sit on the wings, and each owner may choose a racing number between 0 and 999. Porsche renders that number across the bonnet, doors and rear window in a deliberately rough typeface modelled on the graffiti painted across the Nordschleife’s asphalt. California Gold forged wheels, a gold Porsche windscreen banner and a matching circuit outline on the B-pillars add precisely the right amount of theatre.

Welcome to the Green Hell

The interior continues the joke with illuminated “Welcome to the Green Hell” sill plates and door projectors that cast the track map onto the ground. There is a green roll cage, green showing through the perforated driver’s seat and a Nürburgring emblem on its headrest; the passenger merely gets “GT3”, a small but amusing reminder of who matters. Select the six-speed manual and the green-marked gear pattern sits atop a walnut knob, an unexpectedly warm detail in a cabin otherwise dressed for a race briefing.

Mechanically, Porsche has resisted inventing extra horsepower for the brochure. The special retains the regular GT3’s naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six, producing 510PS, revving to 9,000rpm and driving the rear wheels through either that manual gearbox or a seven-speed PDK. That is no criticism: a GT3 hardly needs an anniversary to justify itself.

Honour the circuit

Owners planning to honour the circuit with more than social-media photographs can specify a colour-matched Manthey Kit, bringing revised suspension and brakes plus an aerodynamic package capable of generating 540kg of downforce at 285kmph. A GT3 wearing the kit has lapped the Nordschleife in 6 minutes 50.853 seconds, so the add-ons are decidedly more serious than the gold wheels. Buyers also gain access to a one-day Sonderwunsch Manthey experience near the circuit and may order a matching Porsche Design Chronograph 1, complete with a titanium case, Nürburgring dial and a movement rotor styled after the car’s wheels.

Porsche has not announced a price, and perhaps that is fitting; anyone eligible for one of 100 German-market cars is unlikely to be comparison-shopping. The result remains fundamentally a familiar GT3 wearing elaborate commemorative tailoring, but that is exactly why it works. Porsche has not forced a false story onto the car. It has simply dressed one of the world’s finest road-going track cars for the hundredth birthday of the place that helped create it.

Porsche is marking the Nürburgring’s centenary with just 100 special-edition 911 GT3s.
