DJR was docked $3000 and 30 teams\u2019 championship points for the incident<\/a>, leaving Kostecki\u2019s win to stand.<\/p>\n\u201cI just followed instructions from [DJR team manager and car controller] Tom [Moore],\u201d said Kostecki.<\/p>\n
\u201cI saw Tom wave to those guys and get four nods from the guys with guns.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe only guy that didn\u2019t give a nod in the end, I saw [later] from the camera and the TV, was the guy that was crouched down looking the wrong way in pit lane.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat happened to be Mitch. I\u2019m glad that nothing happened. It would have been pretty awkward because he\u2019s got a brother (Shane) that works in our team as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt could have been a brawl, like a brotherly brawl, which would have been pretty cool!<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I\u2019m just glad that nothing happened and it\u2019s one of those things sometimes, it\u2019s too close for comfort.<\/p>\n
\u201cI saw the four signals and just followed what Tom said.\u201d<\/p>\n
Moore took full responsibility for the situation.<\/p>\n
\u201cI went over there and apologised to those guys straight away because obviously Mitch wasn\u2019t stoked about it, as you can imagine,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s my fault. I should have erred on the side of caution and sent Brodie around.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously it\u2019s a super tight pit lane. In that way, it would have almost been more dangerous to try and squeeze out between the two pit crews.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut the rule is basically unless you have complete understanding between the teams, you shouldn\u2019t do it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought I had understanding. It was a judgment call that in hindsight wasn\u2019t correct.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate because I think the team operationally was pretty perfect this weekend in pit lane apart from that.\u201d<\/p>\n
