Xpeng ANZ, the factory-backed local subsidiary of Chinese automaker Xpeng, says it will honour eligible cashback, warranty, maintenance and other promotional commitments for vehicles purchased through former distributor TrueEV.<\/p>\n

The Australian distributor\u2019s legal battle against Xpeng ANZ came to an end on Thursday, August 20 when its case was dismissed in Federal Court<\/a>. A trial scheduled for October 2026 had been contingent on TrueEV paying $1.26 million in security for costs across two tranches, but it failed to pay the second tranche ahead of an August 19 deadline imposed by the court.<\/p>\n

In a press release, Xpeng ANZ said: \u201cWith the formal conclusion of its distributor arrangement with TrueEV Distribution effective today, Xpeng ANZ is now the sole operator of the Xpeng brand in Australian markets and is stepping forward to stand directly behind every Xpeng customer, wherever and whenever they purchased.\u201d<\/p>\n

It said it \u201crecognises that the transition from TrueEV has created uncertainty for some customers\u201d and is implementing a process to review documented promotional commitments made by the former distributor to Xpeng buyers, using an expanded Australian-based customer support team.<\/p>\n

This includes a $5000 cashback offer, a 10-year warranty, and other promotional offers including complimentary scheduled servicing.<\/p>\n

The company is asking customers who were promised these but who haven\u2019t received them to reach out via email at with their name, vehicle identification number (VIN), proof of purchase, and any other documentation of the commitment.<\/p>\n

The company says it\u2019s reviewing each case individually and once the relevant commitment has been confirmed, it will organise the applicable cashback payment, warranty activation, service booking or other agreed outcome directly.<\/p>\n

“All Xpeng customers deserve certainty about who is looking after them. Every Xpeng vehicle in Australia and New Zealand is backed by the factory, and every customer who purchased through TrueEV can now deal with Xpeng ANZ directly,\u201d said Xpeng ANZ national aftersales manager Shaun Anthony in a release.<\/p>\n

Xpeng ANZ has been expanding its dealer network since it announced its factory-backed operations in April 2026, and now has retail locations across Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia.<\/p>\n

In June 2026, it announced its warranty program, which is being extended to eligible vehicles purchased through TrueEV or its authorised dealers.<\/p>\n

This warranty program comprises: a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty (dropping to seven years or 160,000km for commercial users); an eight-year, 160,000km warranty for the battery, electric motors and battery management system; a five-year, unlimited-kilometre paint warranty; and a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre anti-corrosion warranty.<\/p>\n

TrueEV\u00a0introduced Xpeng to Australia in 2024<\/a>\u00a0under a five-year deal to exclusively distribute the brand here, launching the\u00a0G6<\/a>\u00a0electric SUV \u2013 a rival to the\u00a0Tesla Model Y<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Zeekr 7X<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 and planning to also introduce the\u00a0X9<\/a>\u00a0electric people mover. It also partnered with Ultra Tune for servicing and roadside assistance.<\/p>\n

However, on January 1, 2026, Xpeng told TrueEV it would terminate its local exclusivity and commence a \u201cdirect factory-backed\u00a0[distribution]\u00a0model\u201d under its own company,\u00a0Xpeng Australia and New Zealand<\/a>\u00a0(ANZ).<\/p>\n

TrueEV launched legal proceedings against Xpeng ANZ in March,<\/a>\u00a0while receivers were appointed in that same month in relation to stock of Xpeng vehicles held by TrueEV Distribution, according to filings with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).<\/p>\n

Despite the looming spectre of an upcoming court case \u2013 which now won’t go ahead \u2013 Xpeng ANZ held what was effectively an Australian relaunch last month, outlining its product plans<\/a> which include a massive expansion of the local model lineup.<\/p>\n

The G6 will be joined this year not only by the X9, but also by the mid-size L03 and large G9L electric SUVs, with more new models to follow in 2027.<\/p>\n
