and likely continuing through Monday. <\/p>\n<p>It will then move west of the rest of the island chain by Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>Moke may eventually battle wind shear and drier air, and that should keep its wind intensity in check as a tropical storm.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"DCT 23\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"shadow-md rounded-lg object-contain h-auto w-full\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/DCT_SPECIAL23_1280x720.jpg\"\/>What are the impacts to Hawaii?<\/p>\n<p>The most serious concern is additional heavy rain and flash flooding just days after <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.com\/2026\/08\/17\/storms\/hurricane\/hawaii-hurricane-tropical-storm-lala-forecast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hurricane Lala triggered damaging flooding<\/a> on the Big Island, and locally flooding rain in other parts of the island chain. <\/p>\n<p>A flood watch is in effect for the Big Island. <\/p>\n<p>According to the National Hurricane Center, several more inches of additional rainfall is possible on the Big Island, especially over the mountains and eastern slopes.<\/p>\n<p>(MORE: <a week have only happened once before since 1950<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>This means additional life-threatening flash flooding and landslides are likely, especially over mountains and nearby slopes. <\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"DCT 47\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"shadow-md rounded-lg object-contain h-auto w-full\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1787598273_308_DCT_SPECIAL47_1280x720.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>While there are no tropical storm watches on the island due to Moke traveling further south than Lala, there is still a chance of some gusty winds, especially within and downslope of higher terrain. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Hawaii is now
