He said that Hilton was receiving treatment for these injuries up until 48 hours before recording the podcast. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe cutting, a couple of falls that happened during this process,\u201d he explained of the injuries sustained. <\/p>\n
Tom, who is married to Hilton\u2019s youngest sister Barbara Lavandeira, said the focus now will be transitioning into the mental side of things and making sure Hilton is not looking to harm himself again. <\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough, of course, while he\u2019s in the hospital, while he\u2019s being treated for his physical ailments, psychiatrists come in and check in and see how he\u2019s doing and make sure he\u2019s not looking to harm himself,\u201d he explained. <\/p>\n
Tom said it remains unclear as to what caused his mental break. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe actual healing, or digging into what caused this mental break as I\u2019ve called it, hasn\u2019t been discovered,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t know if it will ever be.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Aug. 8, the family said that Hilton had \u201cexperienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days.\u201d They said his treatment and recovery will be a long process. At the time, they said his condition \u201cremains serious but stable.\u201d<\/p>\n As of Aug. 17, the 48-year-old\u2019s family said he remained hospitalized<\/a> under Florida\u2019s Baker Act \u201cand is receiving the medical care he needs.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier this month, Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s deputies responded to Hilton\u2019s Miami home<\/a> after receiving multiple calls about a person livestreaming acts of self-harm on the social media platform. Authorities located the residence and spoke with family members on scene and confirmed Hilton was alone inside. His TikTok account has since been banned. <\/p>\n His family later revealed that his three children, niece and sister were inside the home \u201cminutes before the public livestream incident.\u201d<\/a> He has two daughters and a son. <\/p>\n \u201cWhen it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma,\u201d the statement explained. \u201cOur highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced.
