{"id":868521,"date":"2026-08-26T02:10:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T02:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/868521\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T02:10:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T02:10:11","slug":"clarks-bmw-championship-win-continues-big-year-in-golf-for-t-mobile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/868521\/","title":{"rendered":"Clark\u2019s BMW Championship win continues big year in golf for T-Mobile"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">Wyndham Clark\u2019s victory in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/08\/12\/bmw-championship-maintaining-status-as-upper-tier-pga-tour-event\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/08\/12\/bmw-championship-maintaining-status-as-upper-tier-pga-tour-event\/\">BMW Championship<\/a> on Sunday continued a big 2026 for one of his top sponsors, T-Mobile, as it wraps up its third year in the sport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">Clark\u2019s win in St. Louis was his third of the year, the others being the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in May and, most notably, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/06\/22\/clark-fights-through-shaky-start-hostile-crowd-to-win-us-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/06\/22\/clark-fights-through-shaky-start-hostile-crowd-to-win-us-open\/\">the U.S. Open in June<\/a>. His victory at Shinnecock Hills came just weeks after T-Mobile\u2019s top endorser in the women\u2019s game, Nelly Korda, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/06\/08\/nelly-korda-claims-us-womens-open-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/06\/08\/nelly-korda-claims-us-womens-open-title\/\">won the U.S. Women\u2019s Open<\/a> at Riviera Country Club.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">And the U.S. Open victories by Clark and Korda came after T-Mobile <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/05\/28\/t-mobile-adds-to-golf-portfolio-through-new-usga-sponsorship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">signed on as an official USGA sponsor<\/a> in May.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">\u201cWe obviously look at our athlete partners as holistic parts of our strategy, and both their competitive play and who they are off the course is really important to us too,\u201d said Amy Azzi, T-Mobile\u2019s VP\/sponsorships (and an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Journal\/Issues\/2022\/06\/27\/Forty-Under-40\/Azzi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Journal\/Issues\/2022\/06\/27\/Forty-Under-40\/Azzi\/\">SBJ Forty Under 40 honoree in 2022<\/a>). \u201cSo when those things align like this, it\u2019s an amazing moment to see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">T-Mobile\u2019s deal with the USGA made it the official 5G network partner of the organization\u2019s tournaments, and it also provided a mobile \u201cRules Review\u201d for the USGA, which governs the sport\u2019s rules. T-Mobile\u2019s golf portfolio has been growing, with 2026 being its third year as an official partner of the PGA of America.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">At the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club this year, in addition to 5G coverage, T-Mobile had sensors across the course that helped manage the fan experience. It\u2019s also worked on broadcast coverage around the PGA the past three years, with additional cameras and other tech enhancements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">\u201cWe\u2019ll continue to look at how many more ways we can integrate,\u201d Azzi said. \u201cFor us, it\u2019s about having a little bit more runway to keep partnering together on what they need.
