The former UFC champion says he feels fulfilled with his career but admits the future is impossible to predict.<\/p>\n

After more than three years since retiring from MMA, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua<\/a> is set to return to action against Glover Teixeira<\/a> in a boxing match at Spaten Fight Night 3<\/a>, scheduled for Aug. 29 in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil. The former UFC<\/a> light heavyweight champion, however, does not expect to compete again after facing Teixeira.<\/p>\n

Mauricio Shogun Expects Final Fight Against Glover Teixeira<\/p>\n

Although Shogun and Teixeira have never faced each other in the UFC, they have similar trajectories in their careers. Both are former UFC light heavyweight champions with 42 professional fights in their careers. In addition, Shogun and Teixeira retired from MMA after UFC 283<\/a>, when both lost their respective fights. Now, the former champions will face each other in a boxing match, and Shogun believes the bout could be the final fight of his career.<\/p>\n

“I think it’s the last one,” Shogun told MMA Fighting. “But I think the future is a mystery, so\u2026 I don’t know, but I think it’s the last one.”<\/p>\n

Mauricio Shogun Feels Fulfilled With Career<\/p>\n

Besides being a former UFC champion, Shogun also won the 2005 PRIDE<\/a> Middleweight Grand Prix, making him one of the few fighters to hold major titles in both promotions. After a career that saw him face some of the best fighters of his generation, the Brazilian is satisfied with what he has accomplished in the sport. However, Shogun admitted that he remains driven by new challenges, meaning he cannot completely rule out another fight in the future.<\/p>\n

“Actually, I’m a fulfilled person,” Shogun said. “I think I’ve fought the best in the world. And I don’t think (I’ll fight again). But I’m a guy who is driven by challenges. What drives me are my goals, my targets, my dreams. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but I think this is the last one.”<\/p>\n

For now, however, Shogun’s focus remains on his boxing match against Teixeira.
