F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has weighed in on the possibility of the sport returning to V8 engines in the next few years.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
The plan was first raised by FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who is keen to see their return to work in tandem with sustainable fuels.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Many of the current F1 teams have voiced their support for the idea, with drivers also keen on the plan.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Ben Sulayem has suggested that the re-introduction of the V8s could come as early as the 2030 season.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
When asked how strong he believes the possibility to be, Domenicali told De Telegraaf: \u201cI think quite big. The president of the FIA \u200b really wants that and we support him in that.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course, everything still needs to be worked out. But I think we are all heading in the right direction in that regard.\u201d\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
F1 is currently in its first year of a new engine cycle, but the 2026 units have not had an overwhelmingly positive verdict from the drivers.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Domenicali suggested that drivers will be listened to more closely going forward to ensure they have an input.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cI always listen to the drivers; they are our crown jewels,\u201d he said.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cI have always said that, and I will always continue to do so. If you look at the current engines now: we must not forget that these current models come from the manufacturers.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cYears ago, they wanted to go in this direction, and for us, it was essentially take it or leave it .
