52′ The new rule gets a go!

The Melbourne Storm, down a man and on the wrong side of the momentum, opt to receive after conceding points.

So there you go. Doesn’t seem fair, but there you go.

The Broncos try a kick into no man’s land, and the Storm fumble but regather.

49′ Moses Leo in the sin-bin

Alec MacDonald hits a short ball and knocks on, with the Broncos scooping it up and flying down the right flank.

He’s dragged down by Tyran Wishart and Moses Leo hits him with “direct” contact, “moderate” force to the head.

Leo is sent to the bin for 10 minutes.

48′ Storm applying the blowtorch

The errors from Brisbane keep coming and the Storm are putting them under the pump.

A Cameron Munster offload produces some dangerous second-phase play an Jahrome Hughes rolls it into the in-goal to get a fresh set.

41′ Storm kick off to start the second half

Will it be more of the same or can the Broncos find some fight?

38′ Broncos cop a tough one, but no challenge

VJ Semu is called for a knock-on in a tackle, but it looked like he maintained possession the entire time despite a little shuffle. No captain’s challenge, I suppose fearing the replays would show some separation. But again, maybe chance your arm.

Thu 27 Aug 2026 at 8:31pmThu 27 Aug 2026 at 8:31pm

34′ New rule yet to get a workout

The Broncos have conceded three straight tries in short order but still are yet to opt to receive the kick-off.

Consider me perplexed. With nothing to lose, why not try something a little different? Backing your defence clearly ain’t working.

Thu 27 Aug 2026 at 8:27pmThu 27 Aug 2026 at 8:27pm

31′ Beware the second kick

A floating Jahrome Hughes bomb is allowed to bounce, the Storm regather through Cooper Clarke and Cameron Munster kicks again out wide, but Josiah Karapani can’t mark and it goes into touch off his hands.

Thu 27 Aug 2026 at 8:26pmThu 27 Aug 2026 at 8:26pm

29′ Rough call on the Storm

The Broncos load up on one side of the field as they kick off to the right. Cameron Munster fields it on his knees and flings a pass to Sua Fa’alogo, clearly with an idea towards spinning it left and exploiting the limited number of defenders out there, but it’s called forward!

Gee, that’s a tough call.

Thu 27 Aug 2026 at 8:14pmThu 27 Aug 2026 at 8:14pm

20′ The Storm also choose to kick off

So both teams so far have chosen the traditional option of kicking the ball away after conceding points and backing their defence to keep the opposition down the other end.

Both sides valuing territory over possession.

Thu 27 Aug 2026 at 8:09pmThu 27 Aug 2026 at 8:09pm

16′ The Broncos choose to kick off and get the rewards!

Surprisingly, the Broncos have chosen to kick off after conceding points, and the Storm knock it on through Shawn Blore.

And burn their challenge despite Blore clearly placing the ball on the foot of Xavier Willison.

[9
18743,64,63,7285,4428,4125,4466,158,85
post-870171","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sports","tag-adam-reynolds","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-blog","tag-brisbane-broncos","tag-live","tag-melbourne-storm","tag-nrl","tag-sports
["GET
