\n\tVic Mensa<\/a> and Chance the Rapper<\/a> go way back. The two Chicago MCs came up in the rap scene of their hometown as young teenagers and eventually formed the SAVEMONEY rap collective of like-minded local artists. However, the two had a falling-out as both rose to success during the 2010s.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe two sat down for the premiere episode of The Vic Mensa Show and hashed things out after years of avoiding their personal grievances with each other, which led to a tearful and heartfelt conversation between old friends. Mensa explained his own personal animosity came from being jealous of Chance\u2019s success around the time he dropped his critically acclaimed mixtapes Acid Rap and Coloring Book.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe intense rivalry of our creative process and then like seeing you in so much success, it grew jealousy in me, you what I\u2019m saying?\u201d he admitted before apologizing.<\/p>\n

\n\tChance accepted his apology and stated that he wouldn\u2019t be sitting there if he hadn\u2019t already forgiven him before then apologizing for something himself. \u201cLet me say sorry because there was something that was on my mind while you was just talking that I\u2019ve always wanted to apologize for,\u201d he told Vic. \u201cAnd I think we talked about it before, but if we didn\u2019t, I still need to apologize.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOne thing that I did that I always felt bad about was \u2014 this is around Acid Rap \u2014 I don\u2019t even know if the tour ended up happening,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut I remember Cara was trying to book me a tour, and she was like, \u2018You should have Vic open.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018No.\u2019 And I said at the time that I didn\u2019t want to do it \u2019cause I was like, \u2018Vic\u2019s not opening for me. We at the same level. He doesn\u2019t need to be opening.\u2019 But in reality, I was just like, \u2018I don\u2019t want to have to split this. I don\u2019t wanna have to share this stage at this point.\u2019 And that was definitely bogus.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tVin accepted his apology and held back tears as he thought back to how much he needed the money he would\u2019ve gotten from the tour during that particular period of his life and admitted that he was going through couch cushions and his sister\u2019s piggybank looking for some money. \u201cI knew I had motion and I was right there,\u201d a tearful Mensa said. \u201cBut that really hurt me, you know, \u2019cause I was like, \u2018Damn, I actually really I need this.’\u201d<\/p>\n
