{"id":870888,"date":"2026-08-28T01:28:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T01:28:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/870888\/"},"modified":"2026-08-28T01:28:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T01:28:09","slug":"australian-drivers-missing-out-on-dash-cam-protection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/870888\/","title":{"rendered":"Australian drivers missing out on dash cam protection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"iompba0 _1lalutrhc _1lalutr2k0 a6hzxt6 a6hzxt0\">Almost three-quarters of Australian drivers do not have a front-facing dashcam fitted to their vehicle, according to new research commissioned by <a class=\"iompba0 iompba4 _1tlv1feaf _1lalutrhu _1vzaghk4 _1vzaghk5 _1vzaghke\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.comparethemarket.com.au\/car-insurance\/\">Compare the Market<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"iompba0 _1lalutrhc _1lalutr2k0 a6hzxt6 a6hzxt0\">The finding comes despite dashcam footage potentially helping motorists support insurance claims following a collision, with almost 15 per cent of Australians surveyed reporting involvement in a road incident over the past 12 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"iompba0 _1lalutrhc _1lalutr2k0 a6hzxt6 a6hzxt0\">The nationally representative survey of 1019 Australians found vehicle security upgrades remain uncommon, despite the potential benefits in both theft prevention and insurance claims.<\/p>\n<p class=\"iompba0 _1lalutrhc _1lalutr2k0 a6hzxt6 a6hzxt0\">Front-facing dashcams were the most popular security addition, fitted to 26 per cent of vehicles.
