Former F1 driver Jean Alesi has stated Lewis Hamilton’s frustrated team radio messages during the Dutch Grand Prix were \u201cout of place\u201d.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Midway through the race, Hamilton found himself running behind team-mate Charles Leclerc but notably had the upper hand.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
In the hunt for the podium, Hamilton urged Ferrari to get Leclerc to let him through, so as not to compromise his race.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Several laps later, Leclerc was pulled into the pit lane for a pit stop, leaving Hamilton to vent over team radio: \u201cGreat way of wasting time, guys. Good job.\u201d\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Alesi, who drove several F1 seasons for Ferrari in the early 1990s, questioned Hamilton’s approach.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cI found Hamilton\u2019s complaints over the radio and in the post-race interviews to be out of place,\u201d he told Corriere della Sera.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cGranted, Charles didn\u2019t give way straight away, but I don\u2019t think that was the reason he missed out on the podium.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just that Lewis has a big personality; he\u2019s an asset, but he commands a certain amount of respect. I\u2019d remind us all \u2013 and him too \u2013 that Ferrari is Ferrari. It deserves respect.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cEven when it doesn\u2019t immediately comply with his requests.\u201d\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Neither Ferrari driver ended the race on the podium, with Lando Norris winning ahead of the two Mercedes challengers.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Having now won back-to-back grands prix, Norris has emerged as a serious threat for the championship, according to Alesi.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cNorris has literally burst onto the scene as a driver, with a McLaren that\u2019s set to be a major force from here until the end of the season,\u201d he said.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cHe returned to the track aiming to win and\u2026 he was flying.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
