These sections take a more reflective look at how events from visitors\u2019 lifetimes have shaped Singapore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">New artefacts include a traditional Nanyang coffee roasting machine from Ho Tit Coffee Powder Factory. The exhibitions in the rotunda and the gallery are designed to be a unified experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The flagship gallery of the National Museum of Singapore (NMS) will reopen just two days before the museum\u2019s 139th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The revamp is part of a wider phased restoration of NMS that began from September 2023, which also included infrastructure works to the historic monument.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The Singapore History Gallery was last refreshed in 2015, making the revamp its first full one since its opening 20 years ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">NMS director Chung May Khuen said: \u201cThe revamped Singapore History Gallery is\u2026shaped by new research, fresh perspectives and voices from our communities that have deepened our understanding of the Singapore story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1c69a367d1430ba56d1f5a96f7655e24c253c1db724a6b839ea0e1ff23631754.webp\" alt=\"A restored HDB lift from the 1970s.\" class=\"aspect-portrait flex items-start shrink-0 portrait article-portrait object-contain mobile:w-auto tablet:w-auto\" data-testid=\"image-test-id\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"inline text-secondary font-secondary-captions-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"inline-media-caption-test-id\">A restored Housing Board lift from the 1970s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline text-tertiary font-secondary-captions-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"inline-media-credit-test-id\"> PHOTO: COURTESY OF NATIONAL MUSEUM OF SINGAPORE<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The revamp was based on feedback from more than 160 people across different age groups and backgrounds.
