Friday night\u2019s finals wildcard against the Western Bulldogs<\/a> rested on Membrey\u2019s boot after he took a strong pack mark with 34 seconds remaining.<\/p>\n

Membrey\u2019s kick started on target but skewed late, missing to the right to clinch a three-point Dogs win and end Collingwood\u2019s 2026 campaign.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just said in front of everyone and privately that we\u2019re not in that position without the big mark and big goal a minute before or whatever it was,\u201d McRae said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a real seesaw game and then even beyond that, the year he\u2019s had, to support our young forward line and be a pillar in that forward line is more than just tonight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just said to him, \u2018Don\u2019t carry it\u2019. It\u2019s hard not to, I can\u2019t imagine what that would be like. But he doesn\u2019t need to carry the weight of that. That\u2019s not all his.\u201d<\/p>\n

McRae spoke at length during the week about the Collingwood champion, but stopped short of addressing it again post game.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s going to take its own course now. His management are saying they\u2019ll speak to it at the end of the season and here we are,\u201d McRae said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI assume that will happen reasonably quickly, I don\u2019t know. Again, it\u2019s not my department, but I\u2019ll have many conversations with Pendles throughout that time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI won\u2019t project or add opinions to things until they\u2019re factual, I\u2019ll give it a bit of space.<\/p>\n
