The former director of a Bondi Beach investment firm has been labelled as \u201cchildish\u201d in an epic spray by a Sydney magistrate, after he flicked a woman on the behind in the members pavilion during an AFL match at Sydney Cricket Ground.<\/p>\n

Scott Peter Townsley, 47, pleaded guilty to sexually touching another person without consent earlier in the month.<\/p>\n

He attended the John Madison Tower court building on Friday for sentencing, where Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge labelled his behaviour as \u201cbelittling, childish and stupid\u201d.<\/p>\n

Townsley previously worked at FIIG, a private investment firm, which provides individual investors and financial advisers with access to fixed-income markets and corporate issuers\u2019 debt financing solutions.<\/p>\n

In court, Townsley bowed his head as details of the incident where discussed.<\/p>\n

The court was told Townsley attended an AFL game along with mates, between the Sydney Swans and the Collingwood Magpies on August 9 last year at the SCG.<\/p>\n

Attending via his SCG membership, he sat in the exclusive members pavilion at the stadium, and drank alongside friends.<\/p>\n

When the woman was walking back to her seat after having purchased drinks, Townsley flicked her behind without consent as she passed him, court documents said.<\/p>\n

The woman, who was not known to the man, then turned and confronted him, before reporting the incident to a security guard who contacted police.<\/p>\n

CCTV footage was received by police upon their arrival, which captured the incident.<\/p>\n

Townsley was arrested at his house the following day, and taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged and refused to participate in a police interview.<\/p>\n

Townsley stood in front of Ms Milledge on Friday dressed in a sleek navy suit, as she convicted him of the offence, and ordered him to pay a fine of $4,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow disgusting,\u201d she said while sentencing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s got to be a message sent that this type of flippant behaviour is not to be tolerated.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Townsley\u2019s barrister Maxine Malaney argued due to her client\u2019s lack of criminal history, prior good character, his good prospects for rehabilitation and unlikelihood to reoffend he should not receive a conviction.<\/p>\n

She said the man\u2019s wife wrote to the court to explain that her husband was \u201cnot feeling well\u201d on the day of the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had a number of psychological circumstances, and he wasn\u2019t feeling physically well \u2026 he wasn\u2019t at his best, and it was truly out of character for him,\u201d Ms Malaney told the court.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t accept that \u2026 he was out drinking with his friends \u2026 it\u2019s all his own making,\u201d Magistrate Milledge replied, before arguing the man had not shown remorse given he had taken months to enter a plea.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe victim has waited more than eight months for him to enter his plea of guilty,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe anguish she must\u2019ve felt during that time waiting for him to own up.<\/p>\n

\u201cTimes have changed \u2026 and they\u2019ve been changed for a long time.
