Tennis Channel starting Sunday morning will have its largest on-site presence at the U.S. Open in five years. The Sinclair-owned network will feature studio programming from the grounds of the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, anchored by a new broadcast desk just outside Arthur Ashe Stadium. Programming starts 9-11am ET Sunday with “Tennis Channel Live at the U.S. Open,” and that show will air every morning through the men’s and women’s quarterfinals on Sept. 3. The show will also have special evening editions Sept. 6-7 recapping the finals.

Tennis Channel doesn’t have live match rights at the U.S. Open, but new President Jeff Blackburn tells SBJ that his network being at the event is part of “showing up in the right way” in covering the WTA and ATP. “We’re the closest to the players and we cover all the events, but the U.S. Open is [the sport’s] largest tournament,” Blackburn said. “So we made the change early on to plan to be there.”

Lindsay Davenport and Jim Courier will host the morning show alongside Chanda Rubin, Brett Haber and Jon Wertheim. “The voices everybody knows and trusts,” Blackburn said of the on-site crew. Steve Weissman, Prakash Amritraj and Paul Annacone will also give insights from Tennis Channel’s Santa Monica studio.

Tennis Channel starting Sunday morning will have its largest on-site presence at the U.S. Open in five years.…

[565
64,63,85,747,38305,32455
post-87434","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-tennis","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-sports","tag-tennis","tag-tennis-channel","tag-usta
["GET
