York Knights<\/a> have officially confirmed the signing of Cronulla Sharks<\/a> co-captain Cameron McInnes<\/a> on a three-year deal starting in 2027.<\/p>\n

It has been known for months now that McInnes would depart the Shire for the Northern English team, with the Knights finally announcing the signing of the former Dragon and Rabbitoh.<\/p>\n

McInnes’ departure to England<\/a> is set to bring an end to his 13-year NRL<\/a> career, where he established himself as a hard-running, all-effort middle, playing over 240 games at high octane.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old’s work rate in the middle saw him record the most tackles in an NRL<\/a> match ever, with 81 against the Panthers in 2023.<\/p>\n

McInnes says he is pleased to be joining York in the Northern Hemisphere following the conclusion of this season.<\/p>\n

“I’m really excited to be joining the Knights,” he said in a club statement.<\/p>\n

“It has always been an ambition of mine to play in the Super League<\/a>, experience a different competition and to get the opportunity to do it in York with a team just starting out its journey was hugely motivating.<\/p>\n

“I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and rip in with them.”<\/p>\n

McInnes made his State of Origin<\/a> debut for the NSW Blues<\/a> in 2024, rewarding his hard work in the Sharks engine room.<\/p>\n

He suffered an ACL injury in the back end of the Sharks’ regular season last year, returning in Round 8 in 2026, where he has started at lock in the majority of his matches this year.<\/p>\n

Knights head coach Mark Applegarth is excited at the prospect of having a high-class signing in McInnes joining his side.<\/p>\n

“Cam’s a real statement signing for us,” he said.<\/p>\n

“After chatting with Cam numerous times now, he’s going to be a real culture setter for us.<\/p>\n

“He’s got really high standards for himself and his teammates. He helps drive a certain standard within your environment. On top of that, he’s an outstanding player and person as well.<\/p>\n

“I can’t wait to get working with him and get to know his family and push York Knights<\/a> forward.”<\/p>\n

McInnes will join former Dragons teammate Paul Vaughn at the Knights, who played four seasons together at the Red V from 2017 to 2020.<\/p>\n

The Knights sit second-last on the Super League<\/a> ladder, recording seven wins and 18 losses in their 2026 campaign.<\/p>\n
