\u201cSpectators have evolved \u2013 the focus is obviously on the love of cars, but within a larger context.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cConcerts, autograph sessions with the drivers, and ever-increasing numbers of young people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked what it would cost to buy into Formula 1 today, he said: \u201cFor a \u2018small\u2019 team, it takes at least 2 billion. For medium-large ones, at least 4-6 billion.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTen years ago, there were teams that were given away for a pound.\u201d<\/p>\n
And despite continuing interest from prospective entrants, Domenicali sees no immediate need to expand beyond the current 11 teams.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the medium term, there\u2019s no room,\u201d said the Italian.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe future remains to be seen. But I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a major issue in the next five years.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also highlighted Formula 1\u2019s continued push towards younger and more diverse audiences, including through deals with Lego and Disney.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t care about petty controversies; I look at the bigger picture,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Domenicali said the United States is now \u201ccertainly among the leading\u201d markets, while insisting Europe is also recovering strongly and China remains a major growth target.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a plan to bring a million people to the Shanghai GP within four years,\u201d he said. \u201cWe always have to think big.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also said Formula 1\u2019s economic influence now extends far beyond race promoters and teams.<\/p>\n
