Pinarello’s X-Series fits more neatly into the all-road endurance category than the previously released Dogma X, but may not lead the category.<\/p>\n

Similar to Canyon\u2019s launch of the Endurace CFR<\/a> and CF SLX<\/a>, Pinarello updated its endurance road bikes in two steps. The Dogma X was refreshed in July<\/a>, and the brand has just updated the X-Series. The Dogma moniker signifies the model is the top of the range. The Dogma F is the top-tier race bike, the Dogma GR, the top tier gravel bike, the Dogma X, the top tier endurance bike. Below each of those Dogma models sits a range of lower price points options in its category. The F-series are road race bikes, the Grevil series is for gravel, and the X-series for endurance road.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pinarello put nearly two months between the release of the Dogma X and the X-series to create distinction between the two models. While the Dogma X is a race-tuned frame with endurance fit geometry, the X-Series is a more forgiving, more capable ride with even further relaxed fit geometry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pinarello\u2019s updated Dogma X is unapologetically an endurance road bike<\/p>\n

The brand rejects all-surface versatility in favor of a more comfortable version of its WorldTour race bike, but will that satisfy riders who want to ride what the pros ride?<\/p>\n

Brands like Canyon and Pinarello splitting the endurance segment into two distinct offerings creates more choice, but also more confusion and narrows the likely group of interested buyers. Although it checks many of the boxes of a good endurance bike, there are some shortcomings that hold the X-Series back from an easy recommendation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

THE SHORT OF IT:<\/p>\n

Pros: The compliant ride and capable handling don\u2019t hinder Pinarello\u2019s signature responsive performance. The fit geometry and tire clearance make the X-Series more approachable for riders in the endurance bike market.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cons: Price and weight. For the price, the bike is heavier than many competitors. The house-brand wheels and tires leave something to be desired. The in-frame storage door and latch system feel flimsy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Weight: 8.1 kg as tested in the X7 Ultegra Di2 build <\/p>\n

Price: US$2,950-$11,000<\/p>\n
